Don't count on Checker for getting into town from the airport. We arrived to find a cab waiting for the air crew, which is perfectly fine. My problem comes from what happened when I asked the driver to call another cab for us. I could hear him trying but, after having a conversation with whoever was at mission command, he let me know they'd said Try calling back again in twenty minutes.

They care more about the people who need rides at bar close. Give wrong times. I hate this company and wish that they had another company in Marquette. Their employees are rude and disrespectful. The service is terrible. It’s disgusting how they treat people. I would never use this business.

I understand that night life is busy, especially on the weekends. But I called at 3am, and was told it be a hour wait4am rolls around, there are fights that break out at this party and I called and asked what the status was because my friend and I didn’t feel comfortable there anymore, and they told me there was a hold up and it be 30 minutes. It’s now 5am and the fights get worse and I finally get a call that someone is on their way. When we get in the car the woman who drove us asked us about our night and was shocked to hear we waited two hours. We explained to her our situation and she said that there were people back at the checker just hanging out, so there was no reason for us to not have been picked up right away. She then called her boss and asked if we could get a free ride and all they could do is give us $1.50 off. It’s 6am and I’m finally in bed and away from crazy men. I appreciate my driver, but honestly the only reason I would ever call and request a cab from Checker is because they’re basically the only cab company in Marquette.

I flew into Marquette at 1 am and had a scheduled ride with Checker to my hotel one hour away. The driver Ed, dropped me off the night and picked me up the next day to bring me back to the airport. He was early to pick me up, extremely friendly, and even brought me a sandwich so I would get the full UP experience. Clearly this company hires drivers that go above and beyond. Thank you for making the experience so great.

If I could give less than one star I would. Do NOT use this company for charter services. Drivers are inexperienced. Busses are substandard and ownership is rude. Our AC didn't work so we sat in a bus for five hours in nearly 100 degree heat. Our bus got a flat but Checked was too cheap to stock a spare so we sat on the side of the road. Our driver had never driven in our destination so I had to coach him on it literally the entire trip.

I emailed with these complaints and more and the owner replied with personal attacks on my character calling my message "sewage." The price is cheap but you definitely get what you pay for.

I called an hour ahead to arrange a ride. Dispatch told me they would be there. My driver did not show up until an hour and a half later, after I had to cancel my appointment. When I tried to call them to ask where the ride was, dispatch hung up on me twice.

The driver apologized when I told him what happened and explained that dispatch just tells them where to pick up clients.

Called in this morning the Houghton branch, said they will be coming in 40-45 minutes because of weather conditions and large amount of calls. 65minutes passed by while I was waiting I called when the time estimated has gone by and I should've known that they were not intending on arriving anytime soon. Walked to Walmart asked for available taxi services in town, they gave me a list, called Mak's taxi and they arrived in less than 6minutes and guess what they were only five dollars a ride to MTU campus just like Neil's fare before except that most Neil's cars lacked cleaniness. NEVER EVER calling Checkers as it seems with their staff rude attitude on the phone the customer doesn't matter.
I know that I have multiple options now so Checkers is checked off my transportation list for good. No one bothered calling back from Checkers to check or apologize for the wasted time, no text or phone call indicating arrival/waiting for me from the supposedly coming driver after I have even reached campus so don't bother asking me to resolve this with you before I write a review as it is my right to write one.

We were in Marquette on November 18-19 for "Ted Rose Appreciation Day" at NMU. Checker donated their time and trouble for us and it was wonderful. Not only did they show up when promised, they were flexible in meeting our needs when we needed extra time or for them to adjust. Furthermore, the drivers we had (Jim and Guy) were so nice! Thanks Checker for making our travel experience in Marquette AWESOME!

We use them every time we are in town (in Marquette area) for a doctors, to and from the Days Inn and the I/T bus station every time we are there. Always on time, never had to worry about getting to the bus and getting home. One time we were out there and Uptown taxi stranded us (just didn't come get us) and wouldn't answer the phone, we missed our bus and I had to pay for another night out of money I didn't have, the next night I called Checker, they were there within minutes, sympathized with the situation though it wasn't their fault and have never not been there when we needed them. Will never use Uptown again, awful!!!!!
