I love it after dark but they closed it down
Food wasn't great, portions are massive (like, too massive), and it's basically a place for drunk college kids to go when they get the munchies so they quality doesn't have to be great.
A post-mortem review, sadly! On May 1, 2017, Chau Chow City closed after 31 years serving Chinatown and all of Boston and beyond. A victim of high rents eating our ethnic core neighborhoods. So many memories, decades, for thousands! Weddings, funerals, birthdays, graduations (maybe for the same people)! Zai jian!
Dim sum is great on weekends. Carts with different selections travel throughout the dining area. Place needs a serious cleaning, though.
pepper 🌶 steak was amazing i usually get a beef and broccoli but that pepper steak was truth so much so i ordered it twice in one day😍😋😋
Fast service and terrific food.I love this place. And it's #PhantomGourmet approved!!!
I don't know about Dim Sums but I do know that the best Spicy Shrimp in Boston (and Toronto) is there!!!! 🤗🤗 My 1-2-3:
1) Try their alcoholic drink that is served in a low bowl (don't remember the name) - It is delicious!
2) Try their Crab Ragun entree (OMG)
3) Price is good
When I am in Boston, this is my mandatory stop!
Somebody told me, that you had a boyfriend, who looked like a girlfriend, that I had in February of last year
Actually, I wish someone had told me that. Instead, they tainted my boyish imagination with tales of the greatest Chinese restaurant in Boston.
So, I take the MTA to the Boylston stop, and hoofed it over to Chau. Imaging my surprise when I arrived to find the place nearly empty (It was a Tuesday around 7pm). How lucky am I? The best Chinese food, and no wait!
Short story food wasn't everything I had hoped for. Was kind of dry. Had to go to the mens room to regurgitate victuals which had become lodged in my esophagus. Hey Chau Chow that wasn't your fault its just how I roll.
The Happy Ending: I walked all the way over to Quincy Market and gave the two bags of leftovers to a homeless woman. I'm sure she would Yelp you five stars.
If you want something to eat after a party. This is the place! Great food and the price is awesome
Meh, just your average dim sum spot. I would say nothing really stands out except that it is a little nicer/cleaner than other dim sum restaurants in 626. Service was a little more attentive here and you actually have the option to make reservations. We had a reservation for 11:30 am and we were seated immediately. I would recommend going that route because we saw a huge line as we were leaving.
