  I found Carmen! Carmen! Recently when I needed to get a haircut. I researched the salons in Crabtree Mall; Mitchells and Carmen! Carmen! Were the choices, due to reviews, and quality of products used.
  
  I had some idea of the style I wished—something stylish, trendy, but low maintenance. I saw a Giorgio Armani ad in Belk when I first arrived to the Mall that became a short-list style choice.
  
  I asked around in Mitchells, and was given a style book. One of those Avant-garde styles that feature difficult to maintain hairdos, and models who appear to be addicted to Heroin. The stylist there did not ask what kind of style I wanted, and suggested I set an appointment when I find something I liked.
  
  I stopped in Mastercuts anyway, and they had one stylist who was busy. She directed me to her style books. These featured people you see in real life, not just guys from Zoolander. She was the only one there, and seemed rather provisioned: I did not wish to ask for a consult right now.
  
  Carmen! Carmen! Had good reviews, so I asked for some style books. If you are a guy, then know that we are on the short end of the stick when it comes to fashion material to review. However, advertisements are excellent feeder-stock for ideas. I took a pic of that Giorgio Armani ad, and spoke with Tasha Johnson, my stylist.
  
  We discussed an idea of what I would like, viewed the pic, and looked through the collection of male-hairstyles she had in her Droid. We found a style that I liked, and the experience began.
  
  Tasha is the rare-breed of stylist that gives a head massage when both assessing your hair, and later while washing it.
  
  Think a deep-tissue massage for your head. Very relaxing: time seems to slow, and all is well with the Universe while getting a wash and condition; Rinse and repeat. Transcendental
  
  As Tasha began cutting my hair, I noticed that she is both precise and accurate with her technique: she takes care to arrange the small group of hair she is going to cut and repeats this precision throughout the styling procedure. Moreover, she will assess the overall effect, pausing to ask my impressions at various times.
  
  The issue with the Armani ad was that I could not see the back of the style, and thus did not know how it would look on me. I wanted a layered effect to transition from the top of my head to the sides, and back. Her layering technique made a nice texture to the style that is clean and attractive.
  
  I was very pleased with the result: when I got home, I looked in the mirror for a closer look. Not a hair out of place…anywhere.
