Food to die for. Margaritas are amazing. Ambiance is fascinating. We go almost every other week.

The staff was great, cordial and helpful. $7.50 for one beer at 2pm is too much imo. Beef tacos were bland and gave me bubble guts. Chips and salsa were good

This place is huge and somehow always busy in the evening. Each time I pass by, I always see a group of people waiting to be seated. I finally decided to take the plunge one night while craving Mexican food.
We arrived, put our names down, ordered drinks at the bar while we waited, and eventually got seated within 15 minutes (party of 3). The service was pretty good for the first half of dinner, but dropped off after a certain point. I recall trying to order a second drink and having the server pass by several times seemingly ignoring us or maybe just forgetting us altogether. Trying to pay also took 15 minutes longer than it should have.response / report this review -

This place is pretty good but it is pretty standard mexican fare. The service tends to be a little slow and they seem to keep messing up orders, but they are quick to fix. It is just a little too large and over crowded for my tastes. However that does make it a little quicker in getting a seat so it gets bumped up a star. Margaritas are WAY overpriced.

Met up with my son and friends taking an Uber straight from the airport. Great service, room for my luggage by the table, and tasty Mexican fare and draft beer. Outside seating much quieter than inside.

Everything here was good but not great. The salsa was good but watery/the cauliflower tacos were a little too sweet, and the chunks of cauliflower were larger than I would have expected for tacos, which made it difficult to eat without all the filling falling out/ the chilles rellenos were tasty but undercooked and so the peppers were crunchy instead of soft. I wouldn't say no if somebody wanted go here for a quick bite to eat, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back here.

Cactus Cantina is the perfect place for kids and adults alike. They take reservations although just stopping by is perfectly acceptable as well. The restaurant is nothing fancy but serves perfectly for this type of eatery. Each meal is served with water and chips with salsa which re delectable. Dough is available for kids to play with which my young cousins love. The food itself is wonderful. There is a kids menu suitable for young children and many alcoholic beverages are available. I personally love the quesadillas and fajitas. There are also coloring books to keep the little ones distracted and although the restaurant is sometimes a little loud, for most the noise will be fine. The location is also great as there is plenty of parking nearby as well as the National Cathedral and the Washington Ballet.

Been here, eaten and drank on about 6 occasions. Food is consistently very good and quantity sufficient for the price. Beer comes in one size which is small. House margaritas on the rocks are good but made in a machine. Bathrooms and restaurant is kept clean in areas open to public. Most of the staff are pleasant enough and willing to engage.

Very large place. Also very generic. The food mostly relies on a giant glob of cheese for it's flavor. Drinks were not very good. You could get lost in the sea of seating here.

Growing up a Texan, I have firm opinions about Mexican food. This place does a good job. It's mostly Tex-Mex. The best thing about the place is the chips and salsa. They are freakishly good. They make their own chips. They are as thin as they come and crispy. Salsa is good. Entrees and cocktails are middling. Lukewarm fun atmosphere. Waitstaff and bar are good. There tend to be children here.
