The quintessential seafood shack style restaurant. A great view of the Emerald Coast and the Destin beach is visible from every seat in the house. Food is a bit pricey, though considering the location, this should be expected. Seafood is always fresh, and except for a single instance of overcooked blue crab claws years ago (possibly one of their best appetizers), the food is consistently great.

Great atmosphere but food was incredibly bad. Fresh fish was far from. Salty fried food. Even the soda and coffee were bad. Gosh we drove 30 miles passing several restaurants for this. Has the one in fort Walton it was great.
This one bad twice in a row.
    Never again!!!!!

We ordered carry out while vacationing in Destin and it was just okay. Seemed overpriced. For example, the Port St. Joe salad was served over only iceberg lettuce. When you're paying $15 for a salad, I don't want iceberg lettuce. The scallops were good, the shrimp was kind of dry. The crab was decent. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because the hot crab dip was delicious. Other than that, our group was underwhelmed and felt it was too expensive for what you got.

The Crab Trap is a must stop who when in Destin. Sitting on the back patio feeling the breeze, looking out across the sand and water was amazing. The food was excellent and if you don't like Key Lime Pie, you will like theirs. We also had the best waitress, Jacky, I'm sure it was because of her, my wife and I, had such a pleasant experience.

I'm really surprised at the amount of great reviews this place has. Our waitress was good but that's about it. I ordered the lump crab and shrimp pasta for myself, and it was good, but for $25 it was a very small portion. I ordered the kids cheeseburger for my son which was just a very small, overcooked burger patty on a bun with a cup of fruit for $8. He barely ate any of it, because he didn't like it, and I ended up finishing it because I was still hungry after my very small pasta dinner. $50 later, plus tip, for a small bowl of pasta, a kids burger, and 1 drink and we both left hungry.

Came in for lunch and ordered king crab legs, wife had the crab cakes!! Man was it all good!! Crab legs were sweet and tasty, crab cakes were packed with flavor and lots of crab meat!! Very nice atmosphere and you can sit outside to see the water and beach. Service is prompt and very nice.

Ocean front property with indoor and outdoor bars. They had a playground on the beach for the kids while you wait for your table. The server we had was very attentive but not overwhelming. I would have given a 5 star rating if they'd of had all you can eat crab legs like Google said. That was my only disappointment. The food was good, my son loved his steak. My dish was the "crab trio" it wasn't exactly what I had in mind, and wasn't the most satisfying for my taste buds either. My wife got the "Captain's platter", it had scallops, jumbo shrimp, and I believe Alaskan Cod. She enjoyed her entree and had nothing but good things to say about her dish. Overall it was a great restaurant, so if you're in the area give it a shot!

It's been a few years since I've been to Destin. The food here was much better beach experience and food than I'd remembered. Yes, it's touristy. Food was really very good and fresh. We were in and out in an ideal amount of time. We had an excellent server in Tom. Very pleased with the food and attentive service.

We (family of 4) decided to stop here for lunch (05/27/17) as it was in our bike route and right off the beach. My husband and I both ordered the Seafood Gumbo which was spicy and flavorful -and not over salty! For our entrees, I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta, my husband had The Beach Burger which we both shared with the kids. The Cajun Chicken pasta was very good; however it was overdone with an excessive amount of sauce and barely any chicken! After our food was brought out, the server did not make the customary trip to check if everything was satisfactory with the food. I looked for her to let her know that my food barely had any chicken but I did not see her around. I figured I would let her know after the meal as I was hungry after our bike ride. When she arrived at our table it was to bring our check and I proceeded to let her know that I was disappointed with the food portion. She got the manager and after speaking with him he discounted my pasta meal, which I think was fair considering the small chicken portion. My husband's burger was not the best but that's expected being that we were at a seafood joint. Overall, I don't think we would return due to the service. Although our server was not rude she lacked hospitality.

Food is great! Everyone is so nice, and I love that we don't have to make reservations because it's first come first serve :) right on the water, love the open air and the beach bar they have with an ocean view!

Everyone in my party seemed to enjoy their food. Our server, Chris, was nice and very attentive. The atmosphere and setting were nicethe view was gorgeous. I definitely recommend this place and will definitely visit again.

We had dinner at The Crab Trap 3/10/17 and it was such a wonderful experience. My husband had the fried Popcorn Shrimp appetizer, which he said was extremely tender and flavorful. It comes with three different dipping sauces. I had two glasses of the house wine, which was delicious. For our entrees, I had the Blackened Grouper Orleans, which was a deliciously tender blackened Grouper covered with three blackened shrimp and Andouille sausage and topped with a wonderfully-spiced white wine sauce. It was served with "confetti rice" which is wild rice, onions, and red peppers, and I chose to substitute corn on the cob for the steamed veggies because I hate broccoli. It also came with yummy hush puppies. My husband selected the Jumbo Shrimp Skewers, which were blackened perfectly and very tender. It came with the same sides, and he declared the steamed veggies delicious. Our server was wonderful, and the people were very friendly. I would definitely go back!
