Amazing seafood selection! Always fun to see what they'll have the next time you stop in!! Nothing to recommend except ask your server what to get off the catch of the day. Garlic bread is good though!!
Great food, great atmosphere and even better service. If you ask for Mike, his attitude, service is 100% great. Large group and he didn't mess up a single order, kept everyone smiling.
Overall great experience!!!
Great season and steak. Busy, crowded and lively. They are a well oiled machine and give great food. Not as fancy as the prices lead you to believe, but fresh is had to come by when so land locked. Too spendy for me to frequent regularly.
$$$ The seafood is prepared perfectly and given it's fresh, adds even more to the flavor. Very large seasonal menu that provides a wide range of choices, but this may tend to overwhelm some diners. The restaurant is casual and set up to handle a large number of diners and is definitely not very intimate and tends to be on the noisy side, but in a good way. However, unless you're a fresh seafood connoisseur, the prices are EXTREMELY HIGH and seem only justified by the hype of having fresh seafood and the experience of dining at a long established restaurant. We were there celebrating daughter's birthday and afterwards she said although the food was good, she said next time she'd prefer Red Lobster. So bottom line is food is second to none but it comes down to the willingness to spend a mortgage payment for it.
Best and most fresh seafood you can have in the Midwest. Seafood were air freight to Chicago everyday and you can tell the difference. it was not as busy as before so you don't have to wait long for seat. if you want good seafood in Chicago, this is the place to get it.
Absolutely love the seafood here and their Taro cake. Their garlic rolls are bomb and saucy. Their special dipping sauce for the crabs are way better than regular old butter. You will never feel the same after their sauce. The restaurant is usually packed, but the wait isn't that long. They won't seat you unless your whole party is there, otherwise they'll make you wait until everyone has arrived.
Thus is a crazy house. So many people, but we'll organized with no wait. Soft shell crab and fried shrimp appetizer. Best ever Garlic rolls. Highest grossing restaurant in US and easy to see why.
It's been over a week since I was here and I'm STILL craving their garlic rolls and the surf and turf (king crab leg and prime rib) that I had their with my co-workers. What made this experience so enjoyable was the waitress. She came over, spent about 5 minutes explaining the different types of meat and showing us what each one was on the menu. Once I ordered my meal, she put the bib on me (The Best Legs In Town) and showed me how to get the crab meat out of the legs. Loved this establishment and would recommend this place to ANYONE!
Came in from Detroit for a Reliv conference and I always wanted to come and partake in the bob chin experience. No words can express the feeling of gratitude. My family and I were so pleased with the service, the seafood and the experience.
Crab Legs and rib eye for 2. All I can say it's the best steak we've ever had. So tender, juicy seasoned well. The crab was so sweet and juicy and fresh. My mother had grouper and she's in love. We don't come that way often but when we do we'll make it a point to visit. THANK YOU
Best seafood restaurant I've been to. Steaks are also very good. Fun atmosphere, large menu that changes often.
I've spent $800 in the last 4 visits. Normally excellent service, but tonight we experienced problems. Not with the food. The food was great, but when you're spending $45 per plate for King Crab Fingers in garlic you DON'T want the bus boys and girls trying to take your shells before you've even dug the crab out of them! Also never got the coleslaw. It was my 14 yr old daughter's birthday.
I would give a negative star if I could. The service was excellent, however I suffered a nasty food poisoning shortly after I left the restaurant. I've had this type of food thousands of times before and I am not allergic to sea food, but they should be careful what they serve to people.
Best seafood you can get anywhere. The prices may be high, but oh man is it worth it! The Alaskan Red King Crab is perfecto especially when dipped in butter. The experience is great as well the seating is great and nothing is packed in, it's actually quite spacious. The service is tremendous. I couldn't ask for better manners from a waiter/waitress. They will almost do anything for you! On my birthday one year my grandma said it was my birthday (unfortunately), and they said they would get me cake. My grandfather then said that I had Celiac so they jumped right into it. They actually had delicious gluten free cheesecake! This is the best restaurant in the universe, I highly recommend it for any special occasion.
Bob Chinn's Crab House is a local landmark. The interior is, well, unique. Service is all right (though I was never too crazy about the line that looks like a queue for an amusement park ride, but I understand the reason for it, and it does help with seating). The food is very good, but my favorite items are definitely the garlic bread rolls (so addictive!) and the mai-tais. As good as the seafood and even the fries may be, I still think Boston Fish Market has better seafood to offer. Then again, Boston Fish Market is Greek-owned, so they know what they're doing. Greeks are the "Jews" of the restaurant business. (HEY! I can make that joke as I have both Greek and Jewish ancestry!)
