I came to Boardwalk after spending 58 days in treatment. From the start everyone was very welcoming. I spent about a month in PHP. I went to group for 7 hours a day while in PHP. The groups were great they are structured for getting back to living a sober life and to deal with alot of the internal issue most of us addicts have going on. The counselors that facilitate the groups are awesome and very knowledgeable. Your not just a number or a $ to them. The counselors and case managers and everyone that works at boardwalk have been very instrumental to me having success in my sobriety. I'm currently 8 months sober and look forward to hopefully meeting you or a love one that hopefully chooses to come to Boardwalk.

Got kicked out for breaking rules and cheeking meds apparently when others that relapsed in the same program were welcomed back. Not every addict tells the same lies to manipulate what they want in treatment. They probably thought I was selling my meds when I have 2 full scripts at home 10 mins away from the center. I recommend other facilities in the area ie mhc, healthy life, pacific palms, they will not micromanage and push 12 steps and a higher power on you. Discharged me without a proper transfer to another facility and didn't let me plead my case.

I have been to multiple other recovery centers before boardwalk. I would not recommend there facility unless you want no independence at all and are looking for a facility that will tear you down at every turn and not give you any validation for your hard work. There are 7 AA meetings a week that you are required to go to with your house. They tell you that you have free time but you really don’t because anytime they go somewhere you are required to go during your so called free time. Some of the staff do actually care but you will be sitting 40 hours a week in a classroom setting. Critical thinking or questions that pose a threat to there program are met with hostility. You will not have cell phone privileges the 1st week. If your going there in the hopes of getting to cheap comfortable sober living good luck. When they finally do love you up in there programming so that you will have more freedom you get crammed into a house with 5 other guys in an apartment made for 2 and a share a single bathroom. The military has better accommodations. They do not provide food or groceries. As I said there are some good people such as house Managers like Adam, Mike, and Nate but the problem is that they can only help with so much. Some the staff try and be as accommodating as they can as well such as Anna and jimmy. I found myself getting kicked out not because I failed anything but because I was receiving the treatment they promised. Even with a signed lease I found myself out on the st before I was fortunate enough to find a great spot at MHC If your looking for a boot camp that this might be a good choice. You also only start with 1 therapy session a week

From the minute they answered my called until my stay there was complete they were extremely helpful. Over the past 10 years I’ve been in my fair share of places but never have I been at a place that seemed to care as much as boardwalk does. They are 100 percent about helping you in your recovery and helping you dig into what’s really happening inside you. My experience there was challenging and I only say that because my natural default is to give up when things are tough or someone pushes me to be better. They do give you time to take care of your own personal matters and will make sure to assist you thru anything you have the courage to ask for help for. The key to this program is your willingness and the staff. From the owner Tommy all the way down to the behavioral tech and including the councilors I’ve never had a better care team. I will be forever grateful for this program and the friendships I developed while I was there.

Well I must say after 13 years of going back and forth from jail to rehab to sober living all over the country this place called boardwalk recovery has been my saving grace I came on a tour while in impatient rehab and said this is where I wanna go.. 8 months later I'm still here. In san Diego almost through the program the sober houses are the nicest houses I've lived in over the years. But what really makes the environment so much better is the staff they really care and Work with you so the addict or alcohol can become a better person .. I'm really not sure where my. Life would be I never met these great people
