Easy check in, friendly staff, clean rooms, basic continental breakfast. Cheap and easy place to stay
My husband and I needed a place to stay for a week and a half before our apartment complex opens up(as we are moving from down state) and for a little hotel this is a very nice place. The man at the front desk was friendly and accommodating, following up with how the room was after we checked in. The bathroom was spotless and updated! The beds were much nicer than expected, with what looked like new, stain free sheets and pretty comfy beds. The heater warmed things up in no time and we are excited to give breakfast a go in the morning. The room is a very reasonable size for what we are paying. All in all I would recommend.
I give this somewhat rundown motel 3 stars because of the pricing at $65 a night. If it was priced in the $100 range, I would only allow 2 stars. Our room was OK with 2 queens but there was obvious staining on the bedspread. Bathroom fixtures worked but were very run down. How water was barely acceptable. What appeared to be a new HVAC heat pump added to comfort and the hi-def TV had a lot of channels. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast left quite a bit to be desired as there were no eggs or protein offered and I got the last 2 pieces of bread for toast. Sub-par for most budget motels. If you're a non-smoker, beware of the smoking area directly adjacent to the lobby entrance - it appears more people smoke in Northern Michigan than other places because there were always a half dozen or more folks enjoying a cigarette gathered there.
It was a decent little hotel. Very laid back. Pretty clean. Free breakfast was better than most. 4/5 only because it's not the nicest hotel I have stayed in for the price.
During my stay, the men and women working at the front desk were amazingly friendly. Easily the kindest and most helpful staff I've ever encountered at a hotel. They were very personable and the man at the front desk even helped us get into our hotel room earlier then 3 o'clock when they normally allow guests to check in. The room we checked into was beautiful. So clean I even felt comfortable walking around bare foot! I loved my stay and I would deffinatly choose to stay at this hotel if I was ever to be in Travers City again!
We pushed it a bit with our room occupancy, but the staff was very understanding and accommodating. The place is recently under new management, so the room numbers were still just taped up, and there was a dumpster in the lot for old carpet and such although the inside seemed mostly finished. Safety could have been upped with one door having been propped open all three days, but overall it was very enjoyable.
