This is a great ferry service! Only an hour and a half boat ride from Port Angeles to Victoria! Customs is great and the customer service is great! They also have a very good priced cafeteria and the ferry is very clean and spacious! Also the prices were very reasonable as well!

I don't know how much I can attribute to the Black Ball ferries, but this was by far the easiest experience I've had with customs! The MV Coho met and then exceeded all my expectations for a ship built in 1959, and the staff were always helpful. Already, I'm looking forward to your next visit to Victoria and not dreading how I'll get there!

Great way to get to Victoria BC. The crossing of the straight is great with good views. It was my first time crossing the straight and I did not realize how cool it can get after sundown. Make sure you take a jacket even in the summer. Of course it is much warmer below deck but then you'll miss the beautiful sights.

We made a reservation for a Port Angeles - Victoria fare for yesterday, Tuesday Sept. 19 at at 5:15 PM. The reservation confirmation told us to check in an hour ahead since we were bringing our car. Unexpected major delays due to road construction in Olympic National Park made us be a full hour late, making us arrive at the time the boat was leaving. Long story short the woman working at the office at that time really did everything she could to make it possible for us to get onto the ferry anyway, saving us a lot of hassle! It was all in such a hurry that I was not able to explain why we were late (the road construction). We had no phone reception to notify we were late (because of remoteness of some spots in the park, I guess?).
Anyways, I don't know your name but THANKS again so much for your great help! You really showed us you wanted the best for us! 😃👍🏻

On-time and organized. Feel free to arrive early and purchase/pick up your ticket. Buying tickets online is fairly cheaper, but you must purchase them at least 24 hours in advance. If you are planning to arrive without a reservation, the earliest and latest trips usually have openings. Be prepared to fill out a traveler information form (name, date of birth) at the dock. You will not speak with customs until you arrive in Victoria. The return trip to Port Angeles dies take longer, so arrive an hour ahead of time. There are restrooms and a kitchen on-board. Remember to bring a jacket with you when leaving your car as you are not allowed below deck while underway and it can get chilly in the cabin. Also, be aware that the motion of the ferry may set off your car alarm if yours is known to be sensitive.

What a great ferry. Customs was easy to go through and the ride was nice. We ride the Port Jeff ferry a lot and the Black Ball is so far superior especially getting on and off!!

    Profits OVER People
If you do not have a reservation don't bother showing up.
Like airlines they overbook to maximize profits; but unlike airlines they don't compensate you when bounced off transport. Guess the difference is CoHo operates as a monopoly.
They make more money and you lose more time. We waited five additional hours because of their booking practice!

Only way to go if you need to get onto Vancouver Island from the Olympic Peninsula. Good deal for ferries to and from Van Isle compared to BC and Washington state ferry systems.

Make sure you take the correct route to get here otherwise you'll backtrack a long way to get in line with your car. Outside of that, they were very quick. Much easier than going through customs by land and then taking the ferry in Canada.

Pure Entertainment for my visitors. Nice way to introduce visitors to our local way of life (town to town computing via bridges & Ferries, Ships, Whales, etc.). This Ferry is a bridge between two countries so take your Passport!
