Closed for Renos Nov 2017. My fault, I should have called in advance. Plugged it into the GPS and arrived to find it shut down. Stayed at Days Inn next door. See other review. Can't comment on rooms here, maybe 1 star is unfair but be nice if google maps could reflect status as temporarily closed. Call before you go if planning a visit late 2017 or early 2018
This is the worse hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The room was dirty. The beds were made, but the sheets and blankets were dirty. They didn’t changed the bedding or clean the room after the last people stayed on the room. I complained and they brought clean sheets and I had to change the bedding myself. My recently stayed there and they charged him 250 cleaning fee for smoking in the room. He doesn’t s smoke. He’s allergic to cigarette smoke. He didn’t even know they charged him the fee, until he checked his bank balance. He couldn’t talk to the manager, because no manager was there. When he got back to MD, he called the manager and she was a nasty, rude person. He claimed smoke was rushing under the door. She knocked and when no one answered, she came in. My son was not in the room. She never talked to my son about it, even though she claimed she saw him several times that day. I’ve complained to customer service and they told me the manager would call me and she never did. They sided with the hotel with no evidence. I found out that this is something Best Western hotels do. Don’t ever stay they. Horrible hotel!!
We stayed two nights which totaled about $250 after taxes. Far too much for this place.
Our room was missing a telephone and TV remote. After telling the front desk the morning after check in, we didn't get either one before we checked out.
There was no extra toilet paper in the room. We had to go to the front desk to get another roll.
The key cards (both cards) took about 20 tries each time to get in the room.
Housekeeping "stole" $0.50 from me. I use the term loosely but it's pretty accurate. I had two quarters sitting on the desk when we left the room for a wedding our first full day. Housekeeping came in (we didn't have a sign to put on the door), did their duty, and grabbed the quarters. I don't know why they would assume we would tip them before check out, if at all.
Definitely not a 3 1/2 Star hotel, more like a 2 Star motel. The staff is friendly when they can be found. The TV was nice & I don't consider vending machines an amenity. Very old & dirty carpet everywhere & definitely a musty smell. Repairs are definitely needed everywhere: chipped paint, old furniture, brown shower water, make shift toilet cover, blood stained linen 👀. The cleanliness is very suspect. And we asked for washcloths the day prior & the following morning were brought moldy ones 😐. Continental breakfast is not worth the price.
This Best Western is in a good location for accessing the downtown area. There are a few eating places near by within walking distance. The breakfast here is very good. Overall, this hotel is a good value.
I like this hotel because of the staff. They are attentive and friendly every time I go there. It's a bit old and showing it's age, but it is clean and well maintained so there is a lot of good there. I will still use this place, as it is a little less money than some of the others and I been coming here for a long time. Usually before an early a.m. Operation or a late night flight in to the area. No food around after 12am though. Some order in place but the rest of the area folds up and goes away. I had to drive 6 miles to a Denny's to get something. I mean for Albany area, next to a university campus, the area was without even a pizza place.
Excellent location, and rooms are reasonably priced. I feel my King room smelled fresh and was very clean, despite the negative reviews. I especially appreciated the friendliness of the staff and the vibe of the hotel in general. It actually feels like a boutique hotel with its surroundings at night. Give it a go. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Yes, other reviews say its outdated, but I found the accomodations to be a couple notches above Day and a notch below Holiday.
We stayed at this hotel last summer and had an excellent experience but this summer, our experience was not so pleasant. Our room needed repairs and the door to the stairs was not functional. If there had ever been a fire, we would have been unable to exit via the closest exit. There was not a functional security lock on our door and the tank lid to our toilet had a big crack in it and did not even fit the toilet tank. When flushing the toilet, you had to be very careful and lift the broken tank cover and be careful not to get cut by the broken glass. Also the maid service was sub-par. The third night we returned to our room and the bathroom had not even been cleaned. They had left fresh towels but not removed the dirty towels from the bathroom door or washed the tub/shower which still had shampoo residue all over it and never replenished the toilet paper and I had to go to the front desk and get toilet paper as our room had none. That being said, the front desk people were awesome and very efficient. Checking in and out was incredible smooth and fast.
Rooms are clean and come equipped with a fridge and microwave. Full breakfast and shuttle service is nice. There's a number of gas stations and stores nearby. The mall is down the road. Location is decent. Only issue I had was the toilet took some time filling and sometimes didn't fill at all. Staff were pleasant. Decent place to stay.
Great attentive staff. Lovely lobby, clean room, comfortable bed with all amenities. Great breakfast. Easy check in-check out.
Liked the reinvented lobby!!
Liked the front desk check in lady Linda,
LOVED The hard working breakfast buffet lady.
Wished they would switch out the older furniture in guest rooms
But all the rooms and exercise room were Clean.
Solid choice for moderately priced mid-scale accommodations in the Albany market. I've always found staff service to be helpful and welcoming. Rooms are somewhat small and dated, yet very clean and quiet, making them a good choice for a business traveler. Breakfast is a step up from the BW norm, usually featuring two varieties of eggs and an expanded selection of cereals, breads, and yogurt. In-house restaurant/bar is leased, and has been hit-or-miss among multiple different owners and menus, however the current vendor seems to be getting a good grip on the place and bringing it up to par for a decent hotel bar (Though my personal recommendation is Across the Street Pub a couple doors down -- great food, personable service, and best wings in the area by a long shot.)
Great hotel! Very clean! Awesome breakfast buffet. The staff is very friendly. Natasha and Bri were awesome. Always happy and anything we needed they made sure we got it right away. Never been to a hotel where everyone was so nice and caring. We were so happy we stayed an extra night. Thank you again! Highly recommend!
