The bedrooms are decent with good temperature control, comfy beds, and working utilities. The outdoor pool is fine, and the breakfast is a standard continental. The hotel is in a decent location, but having transportation is essential.
The amenities are pretty bad. There's only one elevator so movement is occasionally slow. The fitness center has two broken machines, and little space. The office computer is slow, and the WiFi is some of the worst I've ever experienced. This place is currently just a step above a motel, and isn't cost effective with its poor services.
Only stay if you are need a room on short notice, or get a discounted room rate.response / report this review -

One of the best included breakfasts around. Continental plus is the best way to describe it with warm protein and waffles, plus all the stuff you normally get for continental. We just stayed for one night in the winter, so no pool or gym use, but it was very comfortable and clean. We stay most Christmases and it's been pleasant every time. ^_^

First le me say we had a family emergency and everything that could go wrong was going wrong until we arrived at the Southside Best Western in Jacksonville. The staff at the Southside Hotel was highly professional and very accommodating. As an operations manager for many years I truly appreciated their professionalism and can honestly say there is no other place I would rather stay when I am in Jacksonville. Thank you Southside!

Our hotel room was wonderful, it was really big. It was very clean. Beds and couch were so comfortable. We had the best stay. My kids didn't want to go home. The staff was also great, they were very helpful and friendly. The owner is a great person.

Rooms are large and cozy. TV and cable in the rooms are modern. If you need a room for a few days that you can comfortably relax in, this place is a good economic consideration

We recently stayed at the hotel for one night after a motocross event in west Jacksonville. Firstly, our hotel room smelled like body odor which was quite disconcerting. It seemed to be in the carpets. In addition, when eating a continental breakfast, we were misinformed of the time and instead of being given warning or time to finish gathering our meals, hotel staff started cleaning around us and we were rudely told that breakfast ended at 9:30 so we were out of luck. They all but snatched the plates from us. We felt generally unwelcome and will not be returning. The only plus was that the labor-day weekend rates were reasonable.

This hotel was beautiful! Clean and tidy. I was there for a professional meeting for my job. Only one problem. There was no one who said hello coming through the door and they weren't busy. But other than that everything was great. Being only in the lobby and our meeting room I can only imagine how gorgeous and comfy the suits are. I would definitely recommend this place to stay.

GREAT stay!! Staff's very polite and friendly. Breakfast was hot and well stocked. WiFi wasn't too good, but everything else was excellent!! If I had ten thumbs I'd put them all up.

Very, very clean. One of the cleanest I have ever been in. Recently renovated. Very cold ac and comfy beds. Quiet halls and great breakfast buffet. Would have given it 5 stars but the elevator was broken when we got there, and we had to haul luggage up 3 flights. The juice on the breakfast bar was not tasty. Nice facility. We enjoyed staying. Clean. And staff was very nice and welcoming. We enjoyed the pool, also. We used the laundry facilities, also, which was nice and easy to use.

I stayed here recently and I have to say, the staff was the best of any hotel I've ever stayed in. Very responsive to what their guest needs and wants. Breakfast was great and well presented and overall, the rooms were comfortable and beds are super soft. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND everyone to stay here!

Very nice hotel for the price/amenities, very clean, staff was kind and professional. Our first day of 3 was great, then they had to turn off the water in the entire hotel for 10 hours due to a water leak. I told them this was unacceptable we had plans that evening and needed to shower etc. The front desk staff got us a room at another hotel down the street, made the arrangements and took care of the bill we were very thankful for their efforts in the midst of this unexpected problem they were dealing with. Very good customer care!!!
