The only reason this hotel didn't get a 5 star. Was the view. Lol. It's nice to know where McDonald's, Del taco and Jack n the box are but definitely not something I enjoy looking at. Would definitely stay again but will try to stay at the BW closer to the beach. A little over a mile away. Staff was great! Had to switch rooms our second day and they called me to let me know the room was ready. Around 9am. Was great. Clean and very convenient to restaurants of all kinds! Thank you

This is our favorite hotel in Dana Point, CA. Stayed here many times, and always consistent with the quality of service from the Front Desk to the Housekeeping staff, as well as the Breakfast Crew. The rooms are very clean, shiny & fresh smelling, fridge is clean & ready, bathroom is nice & well stocked with amenities, as well as its jetted tub, a bonus. We have a small pup - poodle, and she loves her stay here as well. The complimentary breakfast they serve every morning is by far the best I've experienced around - even serving freshly made pancakes, omellettes, sausages, even oatmeal & a choice of other cereals. We signed up as Best Western Rewards members & we truly enjoy coming to beautiful Dana Point., enjoying the beach & marina, all the wonderful restaurants, & this home away from home - Best Western Plus at Marina Shores.

Great room, love the night sounds of the beach. Housekeeping was top notch everything in the room clean. Great breakfast options in the morning. Very attentive morning staff at the front desk she made sure to keep the place spotless and full of food.

Thank you for making our stay fuss free. Best Western is a gem for us, we want to have fun and this hotel make it possible.. We have our furry friend enjoy the stay too.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and great! For couple who want to have a great time and on a budget. This is a very good hotel to stay.
Book the room with whirlpool, you will never regret it! Kudos to all the staff.

Pros: Convenient location; clean; comfortable room and bed; much better view of the ocean than expected; rate was ok considering the location and competition. Cons: Noisy traffic (ear plugs were provided); one of the reasons I reserved this hotel was because of the swimming pool, but it was closed, and we were not notified before we reserved or even during check-in; breakfast food was poor quality, but there are good off-site breakfast restaurants nearby. I would reserve this hotel again only if I got an exceptionally low rate. Also, I would call in advance for the status of the swimming pool.

My daughter and family recently rented for an entire week Feb. 2018. They had their reservation for several months, when I learned the pool was under construction. The Manager, Mr. Callan, was most helpful in allowing our family to have a suite room with an ocean view. This made their stay much more comfortable and enjoyable, since the pool was not yet completed. Great customer service!!!

I feel like one of the most important things to judge a hotel on has to be "hospitality" as it literally defines the industry. The staff here were very good! I forgot my cell phone charger and one of the guys at the front desk lent me his personal charger to get me by through the night until I could get a replacement.
The room was quite nice and clean! It was very well laid out and well appointed. The bed was a little uncomfortable and felt stiff to me (but my wife thought it was great). The breakfast is where it lost me. The breakfast buffet was pretty horriblethe "eggs" were not appetizing at all. I got excited because they had a pancake maker there (I've never seen that!) but the pancakes had a rubbery consistency to them. My recommendation: walk across the street to stacks! The staff at this hotel were very nice and accommodating. We were very tired from driving across country and then all night. They allowed us to check in early at 7 A.M. The rooms are nice. The breakfast is healthy. Great view of the ocean!

Where do I start We stayed there a total of 3 nights, the first night a naked person kept knocking at our door between 2 and 3am. When we spoke to the front desk they let us know that the person was later arrested. The following day I was relaxing by the pool and a bum jumps the fence in to the pool area and says "he's not going to hurt me, not today at least Paused and said wait what's today?". Needless to say I was terrified. We travel a lot, and usually stay at Best Westerns. But they fall very short in the safety department. They offered us points, and laughed off the bum Because they know him. One of the staff members were very helpful with suggestions on what to do with a 5 year old. Thanks Barbie. We were freaked out otherwise.

We were greeted with a smile, had a quick check in and were given a small gift bag with snacks and water! Can you imagine not having to pay $6 for a bottle of water if you didn’t bring your own!? It’s the small things people. That small kindness and friendly service will bring me back. Thank you!

Love this hotel, and that it's pet friendly. Rooms are clean, staff is very friendly and helpful. Always great breakfast. But this last stay, my mattress was so hard I couldn't sleep. I guess they got new mattresses. I not talking a little firm, I'm talking like sitting on a rock firm. My dogs blanket over the carpet felt softer. I would have given them 5 stars, but I'm deducting 2 for the mattress.

We had a good stay but 2 things bothered us. #1 for me was how the room smelled like mold. The other problem was the bed. It was a pillow top mattress and one side was worn. Husband couldn't sleep. I switched sides and was trying to get in the middle of the king size bed where it was firmer. Otherwise, it was a friendly service atmosphere, clean and close to what we wanted to do.

The manager and front desk people are great and tried their best to make our stay great, but the quality for the price is unfortunately not there. And we had a parking pass, but when we got back, no more parking spot available. We had to park cross the street.
So location is great, people are great, breakfast is okay, the room not that good (the tv remote barely worked,)
I give 3 stars because the manager and front desk were great to us. But I won't go back there, too expensive for what we got.response / report this review -

The hotel is great over all. We have stayed at this hotel once before with a great experience. We only stayed the one night this time. Clean rooms and nice views. Nice breakfast with lots of options. I look forward to staying here again.

The location was great, nice and walking distance to the beach. The room had a nice view and amenities were nice, but we had an issue right during check in where the clerk's weren't too helpful right away and were trying to charge the card twice after giving a refund that hasn't been requested, or completely refunded back to the card at the time (which would've showed as a double charge on the credit card, and would take three days to be refunded). They made it seem like we didn't know what we were talking about, and fought with us about it at first. It came included with a breakfast in the morning, and they didn't really restock it. Other than that, everything was fine. The check in incident was just really off putting.
