I've been attending plays at the Barter for twenty years, literally almost my entire life, and I'll continue to do so as long as it exists. The casts are almost always wonderful, with a wide variety of show types, and the very neat and innovative Stage II, where the plays happen literally feet in front of you. The pricing is reasonable, especially if you purchase a ticket package in advanced for the next season. Definitely get there early for your play, parking is very competitive. I'll always recommend the Barter.

We saw the musical, White Christmas. Wonderful song and dance routines. The seating is excellent no matter where you sit you have a good view of the stage. Very comfortable.

Well I would have loved to go to the Barter Theatre but they are pretty stingy about their ticket prices. My family and I were wanting to see their White Christmas show, however we would traveling from Tennessee. About 8 people in our group are college students and although they have discounted prices for students you can't order the tickets over the phone at the discounted price. Basically you have to show up and hope there's enough seats for you to buy tickets at the discounted rate. That's ridiculous!!! Sorry Barter we aren't driving hours on end to visit your theatre in hopes you "May" have tickets for us

Barter Theatre should reconsider how they do tickets for individuals who are willing to travel to see your shows.

Really enjoyed the play Sherlock Holmes and the American Problem. The theater isnt too big or small. Mostly older folks in the crowd but this is the best evening entertainment in town. They serve have a small Cafe with and serve wine as well. Prices were reasonable for everything. If you need to use the bathroom at intermission you better move fast. Recommended!

Great old theater with a lot of history. Check it out and do some research you'll be surprised at how many famous actors acted there before they became Stars.

We saw Footloose the Musical. It was a great show and talented performers! We had great seats (small theater) and the music and sound equipment they used was fantastic. Highly recommend.

My wife and leave in Richmond, VA area and drive 5 1/2 hours here several times a year. The Barter and Barter 2 theaters are wonderful, the performances are first class, and we always make sure we see what is playing at both theaters. Abingdon is a fabulous town, and the Creeper trail is an added bonus to a great weekend. Please make the trip and enjoy this wonderful theater and beautiful town.
We were married here and love to come back and enjoy where our lives together started years ago.

Always a first class performance and fabulous experience! Several years ago, we started a new tradition of going to the Barter Theatre on Christmas Eve. This is part of my gifts to my family. We ALL look forward to it every year and they NEVER disappoint! Incredible performances, fabulous atmosphere, fun for the entire family. Even my teenagers love it! Thankful to the Barter for always adding to my Christmas festivities!!
