Nice vets but I dropped off my dog around 9am and they didn't finish her check up until 7pm. I'm not sure if that's normal here but so far it's been the slowest banfield I've been too.

My husband brought our 2 cats in to have their nails clipped since I had surgery on my arm and was not able to do it myself. Nail trim was $14.95 per animal which was all we wanted, we had paperwork in case they needed proof they were vaccinated. They told him it was required by the state of Indiana that they had to have a physical. They had one in December, this is now April. We moved here from Washington state and flew rather than drove and had to have certified health certificates and paperwork to fly. He brought all those in along with the immunization paperwork. Then they said your cat has an ear infection, that will be an additional $100. They weighed them while they were still in their carriers, so the weights are off from actual weight.
According to the AMVA website :
For the state of Indiana says:
    CVI: Certificate of Veterinary Inspection;
CVI must be completed by licensed veterinarian within 30 days
    immediately prior to entry.
Entry permits not required unless the cat originates from a rabies
quarantine area. Every cat 3 months of age or older must be
vaccinated for rabies within the 12 months or 36 months
immediately prior to entry (depending on whether
1 or 3 year vaccine was used)
Not happy that they do not know state laws and if I am wrong please show it to me.
I will not be back to have anything done for my cats there.

Took my Chihuahua to this location to have a tooth extracted. The Vet took time to examine Duke and found that he also had a heart murmur. He also made sure to let me know that because Duke would have to be put under to extract the tooth that there were serious risks. His assistant made sure I was comfortable and reassured me that they will treat him just like he was their own and that they want me to trust them. Duke is now waking up from his procedure and is doing very well. Thank you so much Banfield for taking care of our baby boy. We carry the pet insurance so the cost was affordable and they didn't want to do anything that I didn't authorize in advance. I highly recommend. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I have gone to this Vet for 2 years now paying $32.99 a month and when my pet was sick the doctors have changed so much none of them are even familiar with him to know his past medical history and try to give me advice or help. If you like having a relationship with your vet go somewhere else.

I have two Newfoundlands--one adult female and one 6 month male. Honestly, I don't know that these stubborn bear dogs have ever had such patient and thorough vets as Doctor Sohi and Doctor Toro. Additionally, it is clear every time I come in that the techs and staff not only remember my dogs but clearly LIKE them. I have been to vets where the techs and the doctors barely look at my dog or treat them like nuisances for being big, wiggly and friendly dogs; I have never felt this way at Banfield.

In the two years I have been at this location, no staff member has pressured me into Wellness Plans, though they have explained the benefits of upgrading the plan when one of my dogs has required more care or specialized tests. I do not think explaining my financial options constitutes overly pressured sales pitches. There have been times when I have paid quite a bit for diagnostic testing and procedures, but most of these are cheaper at Banfield than other places, and I save money with discounts and plan coverage. Sometimes this savings is $15 for medicine, $100 for visit with tests and medicine, or in one case, $1000 for diagnostics and treatment.

I can see why sending X-rays out to a specialist might be frustrating, but those tests are expensive and getting accurate and precise results the first time around actually saves me money in the long run. For example, I once spent several hundred dollars on a completely unnecessary test for a Border Collie because a (somewhat prestigious FW) vet thought her full stomach was a malignant tumor.

In terms of the actual vets, I have had the most experience with Dr Sohi. He has never pressured me into unnecessary tests, procedures, or medicine, and he almost always explains his rationale and expectations for his recommendations. When an urgent problem has come up with my dogs, Dr. Sohi has (kindly) made it clear that waiting to investigate the problem would not be in the best interest of the dog. I don't think he has ever been hyperbolic or hysterical about one of my dog's conditions; instead, he tends to take a calm, conservative approach. In most cases, Dr. Sohi waits for as much information as possible from his exam and tests; his perspective on situations/problems is then informed from these multiple sources of information as well as peer-reviewed medical research--an approach I appreciate because it tends to lead to higher accuracy in diagnostics and treatment efficacy. I have also seen Dr. Sohi clean a hot spot himself on Oslo, stand in the room for several minutes to watch his itching pattern, and take a very close look at his skin breakouts and hair loss. In other words, he's paying attention to my dogs, not just the symptoms.

Dr. Toro has been excellent as well. He provides thorough and accessible explanations of treatments and tests, along with best and worst case scenarios. He recommends treatment that is in the best interest of my dog, even if it is not a Banfield-specific treatment. When I've been in the waiting room with Oslo, he has come over and checked on him, even if we were seeing Dr. Sohi. I've watched him genuinely smile when Oslo comes into the room and play with him while taking a look at his skin issues. When Emma had a worrisome situation arise this past week, Dr. Toro calmly explained his perspective and offered a spectrum of prognosis possibilities, which made me feel more prepared, hopeful and calmer about her condition than I had felt after the ER vet.

I have been to the Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency Hospital twice and DuPont Vet once in the last ten weeks. Banfield has been significantly less expensive, less condescending, and more thorough than the other offices. And the staff at Banfield always have a friendliness and helpfulness that I've not seen at many doctor offices--human or animal. Justina and Jenn, in particular, are basically sanity savers.

I've always thought highly of this pet hospital until today. I called to make an appt to get a travel cert for my dog to find out no one there is certified. What a disappointment. What is normally covered in my wellness plan, I now have to pay for somewhere else.
