Really clean and tidy park with benches and a nice waterfront. We were here early on a Sunday morning and had the whole place to our selves.
Nice park. The primitive sites are spacious. The bathroom at the primitive sites, however, is unhealthy and barely usable. Using the woods and leaves would be an immense improvement over the 'can' provided.
Nice place to take the family for a hike and fishing, if that is what you like to do. The camp grounds aren't the greatest, at least the RV area but all in all a Pleasant place to relax.
It's a beautiful park, near a train tracks. We heard the train once, but the train pre-dates the park, so it is what it is. But the lake is breathtaking, the woods serene, the facilities clean, and the amenities wonderful. This was definitely a great weekend camping trip!
What a beautiful find. We wanted a get away and landed here. (Pun intended). Very comfortable. I love the mission stole furniture. Prepare to hike while here!
Calm serene place with very less crowd. If you are traveling in that vicinity and need to eat lunch, why not make it a picnic instead at Bald Eagle State Park?
Beautiful, laidback location next to the lake is a great spot for pics/picnics.
The lodge is a fantastic place to stay. We've also enjoyed the yurts and cabins. Beautiful lake. You can rent boats. Nice hiking trails.
We camped on the "Rustic Loop" which was more or less pull off to the side of the road and set up type camping. Not much to separate one site from the next. Facilities were what you would expect, decent. Easy hiking with limited variety. Generally quiet except for the monstrous explosion that randomly happened in the middle of the night (no idea what that was), and train tracks running alongside the campground.
Stayed in rustic/ primitive area. Sites are small, within 10 feet of road. Very rocky and not level, we slept on a slant. Broke 3 tent stakes. Not a good experience. Modern may be better, never been there. Hope it helps.
Beautiful place to come and just kick back and relax, wonderful place to being your familyand so clean and well kept and the staff are Awesome, Excellent I would absolutely come back .
I did a DJ job for a wedding at the "Nature Inn" at Balk Eagle park. Very nice place for an event. Well maintained.
I love to kayak and this has to be one of my most favorite Lakes it is so huge you have to spend all day there just to get from one end to the next in a kayak. A little coves and inlets make it exciting and the bald eagles are definitely a sight to behold along with all the other animals and birds. The vastness of the mountain surrounding Lake is breathtaking throwing any season I especially like that they have on-site camping boat rentals swimming and Marina and a little hotel that is very popular for wedding parties
The campground is very well maintained, has nice sites, trails within walking distance, and large beach area. We were very impressed with this state park.
The views from the lakeside rooms are wonderful. Everything was modern & up to date. The Inn is very clean & green friendly. You can bird watch from just about anywhere. The staff was friendly. Free breakfast was good. Next time we come to town we WILL stay here.
