Wonderful park. Beautiful little nature trail up to a historic road. Great views. Nice place to clear your mind. You can swim at this one. Also they have a marina but it was closed due to after math of hurricane Irma.

It was Absolutely gorgeous. A SAFE place to swim, snorkel, hike and watch a mesmerizing Sunset. The tropical fish in plain site swimming at your feet. The birds in full flight and fishing , everything was perfect. Extremely affordable. I would give it my highest reccomndation.

This park is amazing. I have been going here every year for the past 6 or 5 years and its always astonishing. The park and the key never loose its charm. Every time i go there is something new that just makes the park a go to place for any tourist or Floridian to go to. The campsites are also clean and well kept. If you want a good time you should definitely go there.

Great state park located near Marathon. We paid $9 for 2 at the entrance. You can go on snorkel trips, rent canoes, or pick a spot in the island to hang out by the beach. The historic bridge is still there and it's one of the cool features of Bahia Honda. I was skeptical about doing a kayak trip there because I don't really like paddling into open waters, we prefer trails, but this was actually really nice. You can see some reefs and even paddle out to sand bars. We paddled out to a huge sandbar all to ourselves and just picked shells for a couple hours. It was really nice. There are public bathrooms and food available (kitchen closes at 5pm). Park is open till sundown, unless you are camping. I definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area.

Great deal at $11 for 6 people to enter. Drove around for about 15 minutes before deciding on a beach spot. To my surprise, like most beaches in the keys, we only had about 4 feet of sand before hitting the water. However, there were lots of picnic tables and palm trees. Water was clean & the perfect temperature, saw little fish swim around my feet. Saw plenty of people snorkeling because the marine life is well reserved here, there were rocky areas with seahorses & other creatures. There were informative signs posted everywhere of why it's important not to remove the conch & seagrass. No lifeguards, but the beach was not at all steep. Extremely gradual depth, was able to go out several feet and still have the water only to my knees.

Beautiful park. Bridge access to watch the sunset. Concession stand had good food at reasonable prices. We came during off season for the Keys (early August) and found that to be the most pleasant. Atlantic side beaches had a good amount of sea grass and seaweed washed up. The park does a great job (via multiple signage) to explain why it happens and why it's important to stay. The rangers were pleasant and the park was overall pretty clean. We did see a fair amount of small trash on the beach. ex: tabs from bread bags, bottle cap both metal and plastic, wrappers, broken beach toys. I wish it was patrolled a little more or they took more of a policeable stand against littering. Overall the park was great and at less than $10 for two people, it's an easy decision.

OK, I get that wide, sandy beaches in the Keys just aren't happening but because of all the "best beach ever!" reviews I was still expecting a bit more.Not lifeguards, not concessions, but more BEACH, more sand. We found a 3 ft wide strip of sand with rocks/plants on one side and 3 ft strip of seaweed/Seagram's on the other side; then the ocean. Since our strip of sand was also the walking path, it was not at all restful. The water color was great & temperature was warm. The bottom was sand with patches of rocks and plants. We didn't come to the Keys for the prime purpose of catching sun on the beach but thought it would be a nice break based on the glowing reviews from others. Didn't happen for us. Won't be going back. A much better place to go is Sombrero Beach in Marathon. Genuine beach space, great water, shower rinses, shaded picnic tables & a kids' playground. Trust me, do it.

Really lovely park. Beautiful beaches with nice snorkeling. Wish we hadn't wasted time searching for good beaches on Key West and just headed here. Drive was about 40 min but totally worth it. We didn't get to walk any of the trails because it was raining but they seemed nice. Could easily spend the whole day here and not run out of things to do.

My review is really on the small beach that allows you to view the old abandoned train trestle and the current US Route 1. It's great for unique picture taking, and you have lots of options. However the actual beach is REALLY small, like a beach you would see at a lake. It was packed and there were not many people even there, so for that fact we would have preferred to maybe hike around the Park to find another more private beach spot. It has good facilities, restrooms and concessions. Plenty of parking.

Best beach definitely. The sand was kind of short and covered with Seagram's, but the water was perfect. A huge sandbar you could walk out for 300 feet or so. The water was so clear. Great snorkeling around and looking at the bottom, saw a bunch of live conch shells and reef. Definitely will be back!

Was not very impressed. The water seemed nice, but didn't really feel comfortable going in on account of the 6' shark swimming a few feet off shore. I'm guessing this is not a really common thing and if we had gone to the more inland (protected) beach we might have had a little bit better time. When we went there was a lot of sea grass on the beach which made the area a bit buggy and not very pleasant smelling. The inland beach seemed to be cleaner, which we did not discover till the end.

What a beautiful beach! Grab your snorkel and enjoy the crystal blue waters. Walk a bit further from the highway so you don't hear the noise. Sometimes if it's high tide there isn't too much of a beach. But the nature and quietness surrounding is great. Can be busy on public holidays. Explore the park too and learn a bit of history!

One of my favorite state parks in all of Florida (if not the best). There are two cute beaches, lots of paths to walk with gorgeous foliage, plants, and flowers, event space, camping space, and kayak rentals. The showers are standard but good for washing off a day's worth of beach sand. My favorite part of this park are the sunrises and sunsets which are absolutely stunning here, especially when viewed from atop the now defunct railroad bridge path. Absolutely beautiful sunsets and sunrises.
