Was lucky enough to stop in here on a whim and run into our outstanding beer tender Luci. Some people have an off handed picks Oh no my friends, this was worlds above! Personal picks that really were top notch, crafted to our tastes. Not an upsell. You really don't come across that every day! Stay awesome guys!

Love the large selection of beers they have available and the food is pretty good too. They have the best selection of sour and wild beers of any bar I've been to, which is a plus for me.

The only thing worth my visit was spending time with my boyfriend and the tender chicken (50% off with happy hour). We ordered fish n chips and it was by far the worst fish n chips we had ever experienced. It was completely lacking in flavor and was completely disgusting. It had no taste of beer batter and it was seriously like fish baked in bland and thin bread. And the fires were not much better.

I enjoyed the jalapeno poppers, the chicken and the buffalo chicken sandwich was decent but it was supposed to come with blue cheese or ranch and I asked for blue cheese and got ketchup and then was charged for blue cheese when I asked for it

The beer selection is ok. They have way more sours than anything else. And the service was pretty bad. We were there probably 2.5x as long as we needed to be and the wait staff left in the middle of our order.

We will not be going back but if we must, we hear the pizza is better so please take fish n chips off the order.

They take beer serious here. All taps have quality beer. Food is very nice. Fair value for the dollar. Go there a couple of times and they'll remember you. On my top places to go for lunch in Boulder.

Only tried the pizza but it's always great (I especially recommend the Mediteranian) service was timely, polite and laid back. No complaints, this place is turning into a local hangout for me, especially on weeknights when it's slower.

Extremely slow service. As I was cutting up my daughter's sandwhich there was a small piece of metal in it. Got a refund and left there fast.

Great service and a large taplist of local craft beer. The pizza was also excellent. This was my first visit and I would definitely be a regular at Backcountry if I lived in Boulder. The best pizza crust. Period. We had the buffalo chicken pizza and we're very impressed. First buffalo chicken pizza I've had with crispy chicken on it.

Okay food. Horribly over priced. Super slow service. But the trivia night on Mondays are super fun.

I've been here a few times and the food is always great. Their soups are amazing, especially the chili. They have an amazing beer selection. They do a trivia night and have a student night also with a discount if you bring your student ID.

Stopped in for Happy Hour, they offered beer specials and 'well drinks' were $4.50, seemed like a nice place frequented by locals enjoying the fantastic beer selection, we ordered a couple of house bourbons, friends arrived who got the Avery Creek beer specials & we ordered a couple more house bourbons, double checked with the waitress who confirmed bourbons were $4.50, got calamari app / large serving & tasty, flank steak special looked intriguing but we asked for the check then the bill comes with $2.00 'rocks' charges for each of the 4 drinks making them $6.50 ea we question the bill & waitress has lame explanation that it is a strong pour to cover the ice therefore the extra charge (drinks were not strong by any measure) told the waitress to take the charge off the bill, she objected pursuing the strong pour argument which just did not make sense because drinks were not strong + she repeatedly quoted the lower price, finally told her we were not paying the rip off surcharge and she took it off, never saw the waitress again, not sure if it was out of shame or if her shift was over, don't like to short tip so still left her 20% in case it was to be shared with the new waitress not sure if it was her rip off scheme or the owner's but definitely will not be back. Check your bill carefully at this joint before you pay.

Judging by the run down decor, it looks like this place is struggling to keep business going. Pizza tastes like cardboard. SO MANY BETTER PLACES IN BOULDER TO EAT AND DRINK. DON'T GO HERE.

I am really bummed to have to write this review, because I think this place could be so great if they did not treat my friends and I so badly. We called ahead to see if they had space for 3 people to watch the Broncos game. It was already the 3rd quarter of the game and they are having a sour beer festival right now so they said it was crowded but they definitely had a couple of tables. So we showed up minutes later and the hostess sent us immediately to the bar because she said there were not any tables. We walked over to the bar, which was full, but saw a couple of open tables while we were walking over there. We went back and told her the bar was full so she sat us at one of the tables. Already a weird start, but whatever. Then she insisted in seating us at the table with no view of the game even though we were very clear that is why we came in the first place. She said they were keeping the other table in case a large party showed up. She said this even though there was an empty round table in the same room that could fit like 8 people. Just made no sense, so I asked to speak to a manager. She rolled her eyes and went and got a someone else, who gave us the same line, and then walked away shaking her head. So we just sat down at the open table thinking this whole thing was ridiculous. Our waiter came over and was super chill about the whole thing, especially when I said we would move if a big party came and they really needed the table. Although very annoyed, we sat down and tried to enjoy ourselves. A few tables around us cleared, and then there was lots of space. Then the hostess and whoever the other person was that was rude to use walked by again shaking their heads and I said "You guys are in the service industry, you should be nice to people." No apology, just a "I don't want to talk to you anymore" in response and they walked off. So I got up and followed them and said, again, I wanted to speak to a manager. Finally the manager came out and said we had to leave because we were being rude to his staff. What a joke. He wasn't even going to ask for our side of the story until I asked him to listen to it. His response after hearing our side of the story, "it is what it is." And boom, we had to leave. I have to admit, the pizza we took home was great, but we'll never be going back here again, and telling everyone we know how you treated us. I think this is what happens when chill places become too successful. What a disappointment. They won't be successful for long if they treat people like this. Later.
