Great place with really nice owners. I had a wonderful experience and they did a great job on my hair! Thank you so much!
I have been a client of Avant Gard since they opened. Usually only went once a year as a special treat. And usually to get highlights on my brown hair. I almost didn't go back after an experience I had at my last visit when they were located in Avon. My head was sore for two days from all the pulling and tearing the stylist did to my hair which promptly caused me to have a lot of breakage since it was highlighted. When I called the salon to tell them what happened they said, "Oh, we have a product to fix that." Ummm.never mind. So, I thought I would go one more time to their new location in Brownsburgworst experience ever! I went in for highlights as usual and was willing to do an all over brown to help cover the white hairs sneaking in but asked specifically for brown with honey blond highlights. FIVE hours later..my hair was a completely different color than I had asked for. Before blow drying my hair, I told the stylist my hair looks orange and she assured me it would lighten up when she blow dried it. Well, it lightened up to a brassy color with lighter highlights! Nothing like I wanted at all!!! When I called them to tell them about it, they said I could come in and they would check to see if it was something I did.really? I don't have well water and no it's not something I didit's what they did! Look at the picture of my normal color hairI just wanted highlights!! And they wouldn't agree to fix it for freesorry but you guys lost a long time customer and I wouldn't recommend anyone going to your salon. Very disappointed. When I save up the money, I'll have it fixed somewhere else. My advice.DON'T GO!!!
Very good stylist. Very friendly and cares about her clients.
Iv been satisfied each time with my color n cut!
They do such a good job here
Yesterday was my first visit and I will not be returning. I first had to listen to a vulgar conversation coming from the other room about "penetration" and a girl's "first time". The girl waxing my eyebrows ( I don't even know her name because she never introduced herself) apologized and then started screaming trough the wall at the girls to stop talking because she had a client. I would have rather her stop working on me and walk over there to tell them we could hear their inappropriate conversation. Which brings me to the main reason I will not be returning. The skin under my eyebrows has been so badly burnt I have marks the following day. I have gotten waxed before and knew there was some redness after but have never had it last Until the following day. I got my eyebrows waxed for a wedding I am in this weekend and am now hoping it goes away before the big day. I wish I could get my money back from this awful service
I've been to this salon three (3) times now and my hair is so much healthier than it has been in years! Shawn, one of the owners, does my hair and I am always extremely pleased! She is very knowledgeable and even if it means more money in her pocket, discourages me from doing things that will be damaging to my hair. I love her honesty and her willingness to teach me tricks and techniques to help my hair look its best. I would HIGHLY recommend Avant Gard! The entire staff is always so friendly as well. I recently moved close to Chicago but will continue to drive back to Brownsburg to get my hair done every six weeks or so because it is well worth the trip!
Life changing events take place here! Most definitely a must go !
I don't normally leave Google reviews but I feel I need to warn future people about this place. In short nice cut, took HUGE creative liberties with my color and looks WILDLY DIFFERENT FROM PICTURE I showed them!
I have been there twice, my first time was great, I got a cut & color, it was just what I wanted. This time I got a cut which was good. A week later got it colored. What happened to me sounds similar to what happened to one of the other Google users months ago. I had a picture with dark brown with a bit of red at the bottom, kind of an hombre. It was MOSTLY BROWN, with a bit of red! The head stylist and mine discussed it and said they should do it more vibrant since red fades. I agreed, then I said I wanted to bring some of the red up so its not only at the bottom. Somehow she understood that as "make my entire head red"There is literally just the slightest bit of brown by my roots, and my ENTIRE HEAD IS RED! Like Disney Princess red, maroon! She kept saying I'd look really good with red hair, and so I thought a little red would be nice. I feel like she took creative liberties of what she thought would look good. I feel like if your going to depart from the picture that much you should make it painfully clear your going to do so. Wet it looked brown but as she dried it, you could see it was solid, not varied tones, maroon red. Objectively the color wasn't done badly, it's even, they were friendly & knowledgeable. However It's not varied much at all, its mainly solid. I would advise future customers to be PAINFULLY CLEAR on what you want!! Being also a school I would think they would pride themselves on serving the customer's needs and adding in their knowledgeable creative suggestions. Nobody has hair like this, except maybe Hipster- Fine Arts Majors and Disney Princesses. Why would you take such a huge leap on a fairly new customer? When I asked about adding more brown she said it'd cost the same as getting it died all over again. I get my hair died only a few times a year as a special treat, so this was incredibly disappointing for me. I won't be going back, and now I have to find another new salon and fix it.
