wasn't there all thst long and procedure went as planned
I had to go to E.R twice because the first time I went, despite getting ultraound they had no idea what was causing me pain on my right side. So they just sent me home, with no pain meds and I could not sleep at all I was in such pain.
Second time I went ( which I was supposed to.go to a job interview), they told.me that I had cyst the size of a golf ball on my ovary. Which needed to be removed. So they gave me oxycotin ( which I did not like taking), and sent me home while I had to wait a week and a half to see my surgeon doctor. All.the while I was in pain.
They other proffessionals took care of me and were courteous. Some I felt wanted me out of there . Overall the surgery went ok. While I thought it was werid to have a day surgery
( heck I even heard two of my nurses wondering about why I was being sent home), I guess it's not all.that uncommon for a percedure like this.
Went to the ER. Almost fell out of my wheelchair, nurses walked past and didn't offer to help. All staff but one doctor was rough. So rough they bruised me. I was screaming and crying in pain because my pain was a 10 and they insinuated i was faking it. It made the most painful day I had in a long time more painful than it had to be.
Horrible communication skills. I took a family member in for day surgery. I was told they might get her in early, and it would take roughly an hour for surgery, hour for recovery, half hour for miscellaneous, should be taking her home in 2.5 hours. I sit in the day surgery waiting room for 3 hours with no word. The reception desk closed so I go to the nurses station. They tell me she's still in back and I'm in the wrong waiting room, go to the other end of the building to surgical waiting. So I go there only to be told that she just went in for surgery, an hour and 15 minutes past when she was scheduled, and they inform me the surgery usually takes 3 hours, not the 1 hour I was told at reception. An hour and a half later (what happened to 3 hour surgery?) the doctor comes out and tells me everything went well, she's in recovery, and I should be able to see her in an hour. Surgical waiting staff leaves in 15 minutes so the waiting staff tells me if I don't hear from them by 4:45 to walk back to day surgery and I should be able to see her. At 4:45 I walk back only to be told "Oh, no one told you? She's being kept overnight.". They tell me she'll be in her room in 15 minutes so I should wait upstairs. I head up there and wait. And wait. And wait. She didn't actually arrive at the room for a little over an hour. So what originally was a 2.5 hour wait turned into a bit over 7 hours that I had to sit and wait for because of absolute piss poor communication. Other large hospitals provide devices similar to a cell phone that work on the grounds to keep family updated, or medical boards that show the status of a patient (via an ID to avoid HIPAA issues), or other means other than Aurora's 'randomly walk around asking and hoping for an accurate answer' method. I can't knock the staff as far as doctors and nurses when it comes to care, they did a great job but the hospitals ability to effectively communicate is the worst I've seen out of all the hospitals in the area and effectively hijacked my entire day.
Listen to your local guides!!
Clean facility, caring, friendly staff. They definitely come off as caring about the patient first and everything else second.
My experience at this hospital is a shared experience between my fiancé and I. After dealing with idiocy at Aurora St. Lukes South Shore, we decided to come here. Best choice. These folks are super friendly, despite all of the stressors of the healthcare profession. Quite the contrast compared to the cesspool I noted above. There’s a reason Aurora St. Luke’s South Shore barely even made 2-1/2 stars.

Hurt my wrist. It was killing me with a large lump on the top. They did 7 x rays and sent me home with out any pain meds or anything other than an arm sling. Disnt even wrape the wrist. They said it was a strain. By the end of tonight the pain was so unbearable that I went to freadiert. They did two x rays and determined my wrist was dislocated. They set it and put it in a splint. 800 IBprof. And I'm resting alloy lot better at home now. Unreal!!!!
Worst hospital care u can possiable get when they put you in a room they forget about you and your pain..if u care aboit your care please don't come here cause they will treat u like an animal
Went in to emergency at 35 weeks pregnant. Nurse Amber O took me seriously from the moment she met me and I described my symptoms. Ultimately, figured out I was very ill and needed to have my son right away. I went into surgery right away. My experience in ICU was wonderful, all the nurses were unbelievably attentive. The NICU nurses treated me and most importantly my son so well. Communication was top notch, everyone came to see me to ensure I was doing ok. The lactation consultants were very informative and thanks to everyone in Labor and Delivery I felt prepared to go home after 5 days. I highly recommend this hospital, doctors, nurses and the rest of the team to care for you and your future baby. Happy to say that I survived HELLP Syndrome and my son is perfectly healthy.
My son was born here. Everyone was great here. Top notch birthing experience. Only blocks away from a Speedway for some gourmet cheeseburger dogs.
I would give less than 1 star if I could. The staff treats u like garbage if u have had issues years in the past. They are very judgmental and treated us and our new baby with the most disrespect u could imagine. People change and change their lifes. To them they will always look at u as garbage. The NICU where our baby has been has lied to us and misinformed us multiple times now. I wouldn't recommend this hospital for having a child if u have ever had something bad happen in ur past. I am so angry with them and their staff.
Had to go in to the ER late last night (Saturday) with a broken foot. The staff was amazing. The nurse that checked me in, the nurse on duty, the registration tech, x-ray tech, Dr on duty. So, so impressed! Had to go back today to pick up crutches and they were just as wonderful! Could not have been nicer! I work in healthcare, I know good staff when I see it! A+
