The rides are really fun the food is really good Fair food. So much to eat and try! There is a lot to see and experience and love going back every year. The only Cons are the parking (we usually go in the day so we don't have to deal with the parking situation) and the grounds and facilities are really old and need to be renovated. Other than that we have a blast every year.
Great venue for events and the fair, and pretty easy to get to. Went to the Crossroads of the West gun show to check out the offerings. It was a shooting enthusiast and sportsman's paradise. Three large event buildings, a covered large outdoor tent area, and various other outdoor stands for the vendors to display their merchandise and weapons. The only down side at the fairgrounds is that the parking fees for events are a bit on the steep side - paid $10 & $8 at recent events. $5 would be a fair and reasonable price for parking.
It was okay. Lots of commercial shops to buy from, or trinket stands to check out. Some of the exhibits are pretty nifty, and the rides can be fun. It's definitely gotten more expensive over the years. My favorite thing to check out was the barnyard animals, where you can see everything from ducks to cows to sheep.
Otherwise, it's gotten a little less unique than it used to be. I couldn't find fried rattlesnake anywhere.
Still enjoyable though for a weekend visit.
If you like carnival food this is the place to go because there was an over abundance. We drove over 3 hours to experience the fair. Was hoping to vendors including home improvement. The best part of our day was the monster trucks. Would consider going again but if it is the same as this year, I won't make the trek again.
We enjoyed our AZ State Fair experience. Since it is expensive, we took advantage of Fry's Free Admission Friday's. We planned for the rest, and spent less time on the midway, where it gets expensive quickly. Food vendors offer Taste of the Fair $2 specials. What the specials are is indicated by a green card at their location.
We also enjoyed the animal barns and the home arts exhibits.
We found lots of food choices, and felt safe during the day, and even into the evening. Most of the restrooms were clean and stocked and there were hand washing stations scattered across the grounds.
Parking was $5, diagonally across the street from the main entrance, in a large guarded lot.
Fun times my nephew had a blast here I'm glad that he was able to get on most of the rides
The property is harsh. Bathrooms are ancient. Paint might still be lead Comapired to other AZ based fair groubds it is terrible. Good band lineups typically is only thing ever differant. Used to get fantastic enterance displays but im thinking way back. Sand sculptures to the Discovery Space Shuttle. Now nothing but the same rides from 10 years ago.
Arizona State Fair bomb I've always loved it always will know just the fairgrounds not so much but it is what it is and get what you got right so it is nice to have the fairgrounds there when they're having a concert though because the Coliseum is so you know part of it other than that it's kind of rickety it's got a lot of roof rats
Gun show was great. A little spendy to get in the door and your entry fee is cash only - inside its cash or credit
Lots of events held here. The bigger they are the more chaotic it tends to become. Mild inconveniences from time to time in regards to parking. Recommend doing a ride share for the state fair.
Gun show was cool. Only had two buildings this year, I remember they used to have three.
The rides are always fun, but the fact that the bracelet is not available on Friday Saturday AND Sunday is very inconvenient. I was only able to get on 4 rides because I was forced to buy tickets, I had to pay for myself and three others (children) so it was a bit pricey. The good rides go for 10+ tickets, so you can imagine the pain it was to have to continually buy tickets. On the other hand the food was good and they have gotten a little more modern, so that's a plus
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful Sunday here for the Home and Garden Show. It was Our first show and we will come back again. The restrooms were easy to find and also clean. Theres a area to get away from The crowd and good a selection of food vendors to choose from.
yes it's dirty and dusty, but it's the state fair. I loved being here and the supervisors actually know what they're doing and if they don't have the answer they call someone for you. they always have some kind of deal going on, so everyone can come and enjoy the other events too. CONCERTS ARE FREE FOR GENERAL ADMISSION. $20 if you want a better view. also they have "fun fridays" where food, games, and some other things are $2. they always have FREE EVENTS going on, monster trucks, pig races, hypnotist, magicians, art galleryetc there's something for all ages.and the best people to talk to if you need help are the Orange shirts. :) hope that helps. and the website has more info on senior and military discounts.
I really do hope someone that needs to see this, sees this! Your wrist band idea this year is extremely dangerous. The design it made to only get tighter and doesn't loosen at all!! My son must have fidgeted with his at some point of the day and cut off circulation turning his hand purple!!!!! No one around had anything that could cut it and after frantically searching I pulled out a key and was barely able to get it between his arm and the fabric. For what seemed like forever, I was able to finally cut through the fabric and save his hand. We tried explaining what happened to get another band so he could ride the rides again, but your staff must have thought I was lying because they wouldn't replace it even after showing them we in fact had one and that I wouldn't possibly let only one kid ride the rides! I even showed receipt!!! My son even showed them his wrist where clearly you could see it had cut off circulation and his hand was barely returning his color. Well no one seemed to care and ruined my sons day. You need to rethink the way those wristbands are made. I just have to say for the amount of money I spent in the time we were their you could have done him the courdousy and given him a replacement instead of making it "one of the worst days of his life" kids shouldn't have to feel that way at a fair! It's made for them isn't it! We won't ever go again and I have and will spread the word! Oh, and now that someone told me there were gangs their a few years back, just going around beating people for no reason, and police just watched!!!!! really concerns me at what kind of establishment and culture you attract. We should be having a good time while loading your vendors with our money! Not feeling like it was a waste and my poor kid now will have a not-so-fun day to remember for the rest of his life! Thanks for nothing and lack of customer service skilled employees! But I guess that's what I'm supposed to expect. We're going to six flags next time this year instead! I spent the same amount of money and was treated with respect and my kids had a fantastic birthday to remember! If I could give you a NO STAR RATING I would!
