Stayed here, as it was better than the super 8.. staff was not the most attentive, but was friendly and helpful. Place seems detached from the modern expectations of today’s hotels. Biggest concern was all FIRE doors were propped open in stairwell areas. Very concerning! Explained the importance of maintaining those doors in closed position for potential fire conditions. Staff seemed concerned and believe they will correct.
Place was clean - breakfast was less than average
Not worth $95 bucks but it is convenient to Sewannee.
Nice people, comfortable beds. Made me realize I need a new mattress. There is no pool.
Simple. Clean. Not extravagant. I think the reviewers below are doing something very wrong. This is a nice establishment. I am a graduate of Sewanee and needed a place to stay. I found it quiet and clean. I would stay here again and again. It is a value at the rate.
It has a very cozy atmosphere. There's lots of old nostalgic items to walk around and look at. And the stone fireplace is beautiful.
From what I hear this place would not accept trainers and their service dogs in a desperate situation. Un-American! Anyone that continues to support this place is just as un- American. I can not wait to hear you had to go out business you mean miserable person. May Karma find you and give you exactly what you deserve.
Nothing American about place!
“HOTEL OWNER (GENE) KICKS DISABLED VETERAN AND SERVICE DOGS OFF HIS PROPERTY AND ALMOST RUNS OVER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/SERVICE DOG HANDLER WITH HIS TRUCK!…The American Eagle Inn is NOT American at all! Doing this to Veterans and stranded Florida evacuees is disgusting. We are suppose[d] to come together and help each other in times of need. This was so upsetting and disappointing.”
I only rated a 1 because I had to give you something. You should be ashamed of yourself for your behavior that was directed to our Veteran. You should be glad they wanted to give of their time and lives to serve to protect someone as mean and disrespectful as yourself!!!!!!!
You can delete your Facebook account, but too many people already know what you did. HOTEL OWNER (GENE) KICKS DISABLED VETERAN AND SERVICE DOGS OFF HIS PROPERTY AND ALMOST RUNS OVER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/SERVICE DOG HANDLER WITH HIS TRUCK! We had already checked out and were outside loading our truck to leave. He drove around back just to start an altercation. This was after we had to call police to get the hotel to let us stay there last night after our truck broke down on the highway and we were stranded in the cold and dark for 2 hours. We filed a police report and the news will be running the full story tonight at 5 or 6pm. The American Eagle Inn is NOT American at all! Doing this to Veterans and stranded Florida evacuees is disgusting. We are suppose to come together and help each other in times of need. This was so upsetting and disappointing.
Nice people, very comfortable beds. Made me realize I need a new mattress. There is no pool.
Extremely nice very friendly very clean and Animal Planet was on TV when I turned it on so you know good people stay here enjoy
Room was dirty (soft drink can from previous guest left in room.) Bedside lamps didn't work. Beds are uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend it.
Tried the place down the road.. No vacancies.. Told us to come here.. Hotel was almost empty which was nice Very clean hotel Very friendly staff.. Very inexpensive!!!! We pass through 2x a year, so we will definitely be coming back!!!!!
I am VERY picky about where I stay. Does not have to be extravagant but must be very clean, neat and odor free. This is probably about one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Would highly recommend it. Definitely will continue to be a repeat customer.
