One of our favorite places to eat and/or enjoy coffee. Friendly service and delicious food and drinks with a beautiful view of the lake!

I've been going to this coffee shop for over 8 years, before it was Alcove it was Starbucks. I love the location and atmosphere. Yesterday RUINED the whole vibe due to a very unpleasant employee. She was a younger Caucasian lady with dreadlocks in her hair and a mean ass facs. From the moment I walked in she was rude as hell she asked from afar "you guys already know what you want "? With a straight face, I replied yes with a smile but her face remained nasty..I told her my drink and she made it and threw it on the counter backed up and pointed "that's yalls". She also was grunting and throwing stuff around in the process..I guess it was as a bad day already for her but by far the WORST customer service I've received in my entire life. I felt so surprised and unsatisfied. Alcove will NOT be getting business from my family at all I'll go to a Starbucks where I know I'll get a smile.

The service was decent. The view is definitely worthy. Good place to sit and think. Does get a lot of customers though so not really a quiet place but has the cafe like atmosphere.

Was charged $1.06 for a simple paper 12oz cup of hot water. Also wanted to charge me for 5-6 packets of sugar My jaw dropped. Told me me that they have to do this to keep the doors open. (Really!? well, I will never open the doors to your coffee shop again after this). If you're an owner and reading this review (I'm sure you will one day), please know my personal review: being that strict and greedy with your customers, nobody would even want to come back to your place again. And put yourself into the same situation, imagine you walk into the coffee shop for the first time, and they kept telling about THEIR wants, snapping at you instead of serving you, I'm sure you won't ever have pleasant feedback nor a desire to come again to their coffee shop as I had about yours. Sorry but I am honest.
I won't ever come back to you again, after experiencing such rough greeting by your rules (to charge even one packet of sugar) and your staff.response / report this review -

Great little coffee house on a pretty pond. Coffee is great, sandwiches are quite tasty and made fresh. Glad to have found this and look forward to making it my Regular stopping point in the mornings!

I've been coming to Alcove since they opened their Lake Lucerne location. The coffee is always great. The tea is great too. My nieces love the smoothies, and their sandwiches and soups are amazing! The location is awesome, you will love the atmosphere here.

As a former employee of this establishment, I would not recommend contributing to this business due to the way it is run.
I experienced multiple restaurant health code violations during my time there. Although told to wear coverings on hair during food preparation, this rule was never enforced through lack of mentioning the issue or providing hats/hairnets for employees. This has resulted in complaints of hair being found in customer food orders, followed by the offering of a free beverage as to have the customer remain silent about the issue. The owner of this establishment was present in the shop nearly everyday, multiple days in which she claimed to be contagiously sick, though continued to prepare food and coffee with minimal hand/mouth coverage. Just recently she came down with a "flu", claiming that she was far too contagious to even come to work, though showed up anyway and proceeded to touch the majority of supplies necessary for food preparation. Also, the rules against open toed shoes in a food based establishment are often disregarded, some employees going as far as not wearing shoes at all with no penalty.
As far as employee safety was concerned, the owner never seemed to care much past her own benefit. A couple months ago a man that made the entire staff team of women very uncomfortable by his sexually inquisitive manner, along with his after hours loitering and the owner's claim to him being a con artist, was present in the shop almost everyday. Although the owner expressed dire concern of his presence and labeled him as a threat, no actions were taken on her part to rid the work environment of such potential danger.
Additionally, the majority of the pastries claimed to be from a "local bakery" are brought in from local grocery stores, a fact that the staff team was pressured by the owner to conceal.
This business has lost customers in my family and close circle due to the lack of care takenresponse / report this review -

alcove is a great place to look out over the lake and relax. the pineapple green smoothie is delicious and the food, though a little pricey, is worth it since it tastes so amazing and is made from fresh and organic products (very important to me). not to mention the owner is very sweet and dedicated to the shop which is probably why it is such a delightful place to unwind.

Very cute. I love the lake views! Service was a bit lacking but there were some really creative drink options that were delicious! I enjoyed the iced lavender green tea and I liked that honey almond latte as well.

Laid back, cozy atmosphere with an indie feel and a great view of the lake. Friendly staff and great coffee - much better than any chain coffee shop.
