Had a wonderful experience. You can tell they use multiple techniques for every plate. We had the burrata mozz caprese. Wagyu burger and the kids had linguini Alfredo with vegetables. All we're cooked spot on. The pasta was Al dente, caprese was season well and had appropriate proptions per ingredient used. I asked for medium rare on the burger. They also have wine pairings with each dish. Which I personally enjoy seeing people taking the extra time to offer pairings. Service was great. Waiter was there within 3 minutes and knew when to come and when to stay away. He had a great sense of humor with the kids which you don't see often. If I had to find a downside I would say some of there prices were a little high. But worth it regardless. Great end to a vacation
Wasn't impressed. Went there last week and they overcharged us for breakfast. I didn't have coffee but it was added on our bill. The waiter was so slow and we were with a large party that it wasn't worth my time to ask him to fix our check. He, also, added on a 18% gratuity and didn't tell our table until people started questioning the price. $37 for one breakfast buffet is outrageous..especially when it was your basic eggs, meat, pancakes.
Horrible service!! We waited for 5 minutes for the hostess to appear, yet the place was almost completely empty. No one acted as if we were visible. Once we were seated, waiters walked by me but never looked or aporoached for 10 minutes. Finally Sven came over & said it wasn't his section but that Nick was busy so he would take my order. What Nick was busy with is a mystery but eventually- after forgetting to get my daughter's milk & then forgetting to order her food- we ate.
Food is good. Views are nice. Service horrible! This was my second time there & my last.
Awful place to dine inlimited choices in food, appalling service and frankly quite expensive for what you get ie. a disappointing experience
The good: The view, the setting, the decor, the beautiful and sweet Australian waitress, and the burger!! The burger was huge incredible!!
The bad: The sea bass was boring and tasteless. Other than the burger the other dishes were small, and and not very good. They served asparagus that was way under cooked.
Oh, and the hostess seemed like we were bothering her.
Hard to make phone reservations. (Minus1 star) and tge phone operator was condescendingyes, i have heard of web reservations. There was no dialtone for the restaurant. Sevice was very nice though. Italian waiter, Riccardo, spoke to me un his language and even made an amazing attempt in Spanish. Busser was very good and filled us in on local activities. They suggested good food pairing items. Food was very good! Kid service 4 my friend's son was exceptionalthey really went out of their way with the firepit and heat lamps and seated us close to it. The ambiance was so nicebut it was a calm evening; around 6pm on Sunday.
Made a reservation ahead of time and arrived to be told that really doesn't mean anything. Waited almost an hour to get a seat. Unsatisfactory.
My boyfriend and I had lunch here yesterday. The waiter was very stand offish and absent. We had to wait 20 minutes before he came and took our order for drinks, so we sat outside in the sun without drinks. When we received what we asked for the order was wrong. The burger we ordered had none of the toppings we had asked for on it. So we asked the waiter and he got annoyed and asked a different server to bring us what we asked for. We are a younger couple and were clearly not as wealthy as the people sitting around us. But we are still paying customers. The waiter was very stand-offish to us and left us with distaste in the service and in the meal we received. This place lacks customer service unless you look like you have money.
Came across this restaurant by accident. Great break from La Jolla's bustle. Very good food, service, wine list and pricing with parking and waterfront view.
- PROS -
Pull up to restaurant's edge on your boat, dock, and walk in.
Pleasing aesthetics, nice decor.
Gorgeous hostess (though dimwitted) smiled and welcomed us.
Food is tasty, with generous portions for an upscale restaurant.
- CONS -
Touristy, with above-average prices.
Nickel and dime ya for everything.
I thought our experience was enjoyable, however the one bitter taste in my mouth was the bus boy's lethargic and almost abrasive manner in which he asked about our water preferences. Our choices were "tap" or "avian." The usual, though he managed to make us feel like second-class citizens if we dare replied with "tap." Also, our waiter came by, and after we ordered beers, which he grossly miscalculated on price (he said $6-7, though they were $9) he asked if we'd "like some bread for the table?" Sure! However, once we go the bill we realized we were charged $5 for bread. The waiter implied it was free, yet there it is, $5.00, for 4 slices of bread. Jeez.
