We were told by numerous people to come here for dinner. The atmosphere is worth it, but the food was not. I would give it 3 stars for the ambiance. It’s a beautiful cozy restaurant perfect for a date but the restaurant is crazy busy and the waiters churn tables rapidly. Our dinner was very fast and not as wonderful as we had expected. We had the tomato and burrata, balsamic steak, and dessert sampler. We most likely not go back unless we are headed to Harold Black.

Some of the best Italian I've had in the States. Haven't had a bad dish yet! Good for special occasions or casual meals.

Good neighborhood Italian restaurant. I had the green gnocchi and it was fantastic. The pasta was al dente and the stuffing was buttery smooth. She had a mushroom pasta. Good selection of wine. We also had the cheese plate; it was done well and I highly recommend to start.

The price was right. Less than many nice sit down places in the neighborhood. About $55 for both.

Adorable Italian restaurant in Eastern Market. In a very quiet part of DC with tons of character! Great menu and a great bar. There's also a great private space upstairs.

Best steak I have ever had. I did a sampler of three different steaks, same cut just different seasoning and all three were amazing. My friend got a rib eye and that was somehow even more amazing and made me jealous for a moment but then I turned back to my amazing steaks and forgot everything else. Only complaint, my wife got a pasta dish and it tasted great but we just wished there had been more sauce since it seemed a bit dry.

This place in Italy would already be out of business. Pasta samples cold, mediocre taste and 4 of 5 pasta sample with the same corkscrew shape ( there are hundreds of different pasta shapes)
Nothing to compare to the original place in Florence.

Food is exquisite and absolutely delicious. If you can get in, go! One star missing because server was not the best, that was disappointing because it began to affect the experience. But I could hear and see other servers who were great, which was reassuring, still left 20%, the food was undeniably amazing and so was the manager. (Visited 7/20)

Fantastic! Their pasta sampler is phenomenal! The pasta is cooked to perfection and it pairs perfectly with the salad sampler and a glass of red wine! The sauce on the blueberry steak has a beautiful depth of flavor and the steak was tender and delicious. Our server, Cherif, was pleasant, helpful and attentive and he and the kitchen were more than accommodating of a dietary restriction of one of the guests at our table. An exemplary meal and experience!

This place is my absolute favorite dinner spot in the district. The pasta is always great, they somehow always pick the right wine for me (since I know nothing about wine), and the steak with the blueberry reduction sauce is to die for.

Really enjoyed Acqua Al 2. Great team service, every time some walked by they topped of water, cleared a plate or refilled the bread. Small plates but everything tasted great. We really enjoyed the specials!

I love this place and wish I lived closer! There are so many amazing menu options to choose from, so I've gotten the Assaggio di Primi (tasting of 5 pastas) both times I've gone. There was not one dish I didn't like. The portions seem small at first but after 5 courses it's the perfect amount so you're not too full for dessert!

We did the vegetarian pasta courses where you try 5 different pastas and it was amazing. Each dish was totally unique, very flavorful, and perfectly cook. Add in their great coffee and rich dessert and you can't beat this place. The staff was nice and kept out glasses full without being intrusive.

I have been here 3 times. The service here is phenomenal. The host and wait staff go above and beyond my expectation for a fine dining restaurant. Incredibly knowledgeable about the food and drink they offer, and seem to enjoy working at the restaurant as well. On my second visit, while still in a joyous post meal daze, I left the restaurant without my credit card, and a partner in the restaurant chased me down after a block or two to return it. Just one anecdote among many that could highlight their exemplary service. On to the food: Despite my 3 visits, I have only tried two of their dishes (including sharing my dining partners). The Gorgonzola gnocchi was terrific, and is quite well priced. However, the star of this restaurant is without a doubt the steaks they have on offer. The blueberry steak is perhaps the most memorable steak I have ever eaten. A fantastic cut of meat, cooked to perfection and perfectly complimented by the blueberry sauce. Make sure you order some side dishes (or two steaks, its that good). I cannot recommend this place highly enough. For all the detractors who rated this restaurant anything below 4 stars, you don't deserve Acqua Al 2.
