This is mostly a hotel but they also have few rooms for backpackers on the ground floor. So they don't really have that "hostel" spirit but it's still a nice place to stay. Stuff is very good and friendly. No lockers in the rooms.
Great location, but that's all. Just 30 minutes of free WiFi every 24h. Old room and horrible bed, too noisy and hot. The hot water in the showers varies greatly when there's someone else taking a shower.
Underrated I reckon! Good service, good prices - $1 wings on Thursday. It's not your 5-star or hipster joint, but for a good cheap local pub it's not half bad.
Great hostel. Kitchen facilities could have been a bit cleaner but otherwise really good.
Great place to stay if you're on a budget. Great hosts, really welcoming to large groups.
Great place to stay however you only get an hour of free WiFi and then you'll have to pay if you want WiFi and that the reason why I'm only giving it a 4 star
We were in the lions rugby tour and stayed in a camper van down the road. Great pub. Great staff. Friendly people. We paid $5 to use the showers and they were modern and clean located on the ground floor. Superb big breakfast. Central location. Would definitely go back of I return to Wellington.
Perfect for people who's looking for rest. Stayed one night there when I arrived to Wellington and I was grately surprised about the hotel like facilities. Common showers and bathrooms where above hostel level, and its a very quiet place
An interesting older hotel.
We slept well, and the showers were good. The rooms were clean. The location was good, close to the Te Papa Museum and many restaurants.
The staff was nice and very helpful.
However, we were not able to get consistent internet, and there was very little space in our room for our bags. I would stay there again, but would look around.
Was a great stay till apparently I was kicked out because I chucked everything from my room out the window. Didn't no cause I took the Island lady up from the bar on her selling acid. I was high as a kite. And the beer tasted like arse. Food was awful place didn't even offer free breakfast
Good dorms and single rooms, with common kitchen and laundry. The staff are helpful.
The Dorm rooms are ground floor next to the pub ( late night bar area). They are very musty and get very noisy at weekends until 3am! However midweek they were quiet and cosy.
You have to request cutlery, plates, glasses etc at reception. The kitchen and adjacent lounge get very crowded at meal times.
Pretty musty smelling room, not in great condition, uncomfortable mattress (2 single beds sheeted together to make a 'double' bed). But a great location, 2 blocks from New World and the beautiful waterfront. Pub downstairs wasn't too loud despite being a Friday night. Good price. Showers in shared bathroom were good - shower gel provided which was handy.
