Firstly, I had not been back here for 10 years (since I was studying at Canterbury). There has been a change in ownership (over the past year). The owners were not only AMAZING with explaining all of the menu beautifully, they were friendly, polite and just went over and above with service. Not only were they so busy (restaurant was packed), they kept calm and the timing of our meals were so quick! The best pad thai we have both ever had (outside of Thailand). This little gem on Riccarton Road is so worth it! Amazing price A++++++ Thank you so much guys!

Great Food, Great Experience!
Walking into the Thai Orchid you are greeted by warm & friendly smiles The start of a special night :)
An extensive food selection kept everyone in our party of 12 very happy!
The Chicken & Shrimp Fresh Spring Rolls and Pork spare ribs were a fantastic starter and top main picks from our table was the Crispy Duck, Lamb Shanks and Green Curry ..
Throughout the meal they kept our glass full and even gave birthday girl a free champaigne on the house! The Thai Beer hit the spot and House Shiraz was great compliment with main!
When we thought we were too full for desert I squeezed in a yummy sticky mango and the others also loved the honey fried banana, and traditional sticky custard.

It's under new management. Staff are very friendly and nice. Excellent service. Ambiance was also very good. Food was tasty, we ordered Tom yum soup, Pad thai, and Cashew stir fried veges. Would definitely go again.

Thanks again for the amazing food and service, I recommend this place to anyone considering dining here, since under new management the friendly staff are constantly developing their menu to suit their customers and always go over and above to satisfy patrons. If anything is not quite right the staff always work hard to fix it. Wait times are short, and the bar list is extensive, if I could give it more than five stars I would.

Had a wonderful meal here with 8 family members on Fathers Day evening. Extensive menu and well priced meals were beautifully presented and delicious. Can highly recommend.

the food are too sweet/sour to our taste buds. the only plus point they do delivery on a cold night thus the 3 stars rating. i think they need to really know what real Thai food is like. at least close to it. expensive too. 🚚

Very good service and nice restaurant however the food was average. I ordered a satay beef and it was far too sweet, it was like eating syrup. It was so sickly sweet I couldn't finish it. My girlfriend had a green curry and that actually was a bit better so maybe it is only that one dish that was cooked to sweet. May come here again but won't order satay!
