Sadly I wouldn't recommend this place and will never go back there again. Ordered the wonton noodle soup (NZD12) - it was just too plain and salty.

Very good service at counter when taking order - even though they needed to close in short order :)

I'd rather go across the road to the city mission for a free meal. Someone's trying to cut expenses on power cause we just walked into a giant freezer. waiters were hugging each other to warm up, cute, but I'm still sitting in an Eskimo lounge. Probably should have done a 360 and walked out the door but the dead silence and lack of customers made an escape hard. We were served noodles in a boiling water with microwaved meat, actually I'm not even sure it was meat. Sampan has turned into a sadman.

This restaurant is an embarrassment to Chinese food everywhere. It is the first time I have been to any restaurant and not been able to eat the food because it was so poor. Don't waste your money.

I am far from ungrateful when it comes to dining. Just to have food is a blessing. However, this place was an exception. Food was below average, and waiter spilled food on my white shirt. Overall would rate 2/10.

Remembering this place for its cheap eats back in my high school days, decided to repay it a visit. The service wasn't quite rude, more dismissive, no eye contact, food plonked on table, barely a word spoken. My satay was tiny in portion and massively over priced. Gains one star for my gf's tofu and pork soup, which was of decent size and taste. General atmosphere was cold and dimly lit.

We have waited 20 minutes for one dish and 3 people who arrived after us got their food before us. Why? Because they added drinks to their food which brought more margin and became premium guests in this way. If you order drinks, will get your food quicker.

Low prices, very enjoyable food. Our chicken and cashew nuts had a generous amount of nuts and chicken. Decor very average and the smiley-ness of staff could have been better. Actual speed and accuracy of food was great and questions asked were answered accurately in good English. Personally I think it's hard to smile and be jolly with customers when the place is under staffed. It makes waitressing very difficult and I would rather speed and accuracy over jolly staff if I had to choose. Nice to have water available as help yourself. Over all, cheap and cheerful, don't expect the world!

Dinner with family 👪 tonight. Tasted average but nice presentation (plating). Large meal portion sizes. Average customer service (they don't smile 😑 when we were there).
    Tidy housekeeping, average cleanliness.
1/ Chicken rice tasted bland, needed a bit more seasoning.
2/ Chicken curry is full of curry flavour; medium spiciness but doesn't taste like Malaysian curry (compare this with Wok on in, now that's really a Malaysian curry).
3/ Chicken noodle soup is light in flavour, and doesn't have MSG. This meal suits for lunch.

    Would I go back? Maybe.
