There was absolutely nothing good about our time here, they took absolutely forever to greet us and ask if we were ready to order and when we said yes, it took another 10 minutes for someone to come take our orders.
When the waiter came to take our orders, his attitude was poor and would give off expressions that taking our orders was the biggest inconvenience in the world.
Food was very slow coming out, however looked very good once it was brought out. Unfortunately this was meal was only cosmetically appealing and was a nightmare to consume.
Another annoying thing was the waitress interrupted us while we were saying grace and completely ruined the atmosphere.
The steaks were at least cooked to the right margins were requested but tasted like cardboard, absolutely no seasoning whatsoever and all you could taste was the burnt/charr of the grill. Beef Burger which is really just a steak burger was exactly the sand and what I find hard to believe was they even managed to screw up the flavoring of the egg, somehow they had the most bland and flavorless egg I've ever had, how can you screw that up? I don't add salt to mine and they come out great.
They were only friendly once we went to pay for our orders because who wouldn't be when they're getting paid.
Definitely not coming back, this place Neff to be removed from the strip.
Slow to greet us and other customers. No alcohol license, fine, but would have been nice. Slow to come take our order, I had to go to them. Drinks came after the group who ordered 3 after us. No toilet paper in the woman's toilet. Food average.
Possible the worst food ever. Ordered Lamb Shanks, Said it would take 20 minutes, took 30 minutes. Looked nice then! Cut into the meat, Pink. Shanks should be cooked like three hours and meat falls off the bone. Not this meal. This looked strange to me, so placed my finger into cut meat, and was icey cold. Was a disgrace. Should be reported to food safe.
I hope Rotorua does better. This is not how restaurants in Rotorua should treat their guests. I was embarrassed to be a Kiwi.
This restaurant needs to be on Hells Kitchen! They desperately need help! Unfortunately we had to walk out because some of us didn't get our meals or entrees for over an hr & no feedback from staff on the update on our meals. We weren't the only ones that night waiting for meals. Sad but true!
lovely place and we had a quiet meal when we visited which was served quickly and was well done
Best coffee we found in Rotorua. Brunch was lovely with the creamy mushrooms a must try. Hubby loved his big breakfast - sausages particularly tasty. Staff all helpful, welcoming and friendly. Thank you.
We had an excellent brunch two days before Christmas this past December. The atmosphere is lovely, staff nice and friendly, and the food was just great! The menu is very interesting because it makes some quite original variations on traditional dishes e.g. eggs benedict and mushrooms.
We were very happy with this choice and we would recommend The Solace to everybody!
Yuk! The 2 spare ribs tapas was OK. The bruschetta was bland. The Pork belly on mashed potato was overcooked and tasteless. When the waiter asked how our meal was and I pointed out that my Caesar Salad with a poached egg on top actually had a hard boiled egg she asked who took my order irrelevant. An expensive mistake.
Staff were friendly but unfortunately that's the only good point about our experience. The food was very marginal. I ordered 'The Big Breakfast' the pumpkin was over cooked and hard, the bacon was really greasey, and the mushroom sauce was a salty slop. Don't even get me started on the sausages.
