The food and coffee are excellent, as is the front lawn. The staff are helpful and the decor tasteful. On the other hand, it’s very busy, and looks out over a supermarket parking lot.

If the name hasn’t put you off and you’ve gotten this far go somewhere else. I’m currently eating hash browns from the freezer, boiling tomatoes, sweet chilli and hollandaise. Yep.

Great brreakfast and coffee. Went Sunday am and they were very busy - lucky to get a table. Would certainly go back if in Te Anau.

A wonderful eating experience - couldn't fault the service or food. This cafe became our preferred choice during our stay. Opening early in the morning was a real bonus and a great start to the day. Highly recommend.

Te Anau had unexpectedly good and numerous restaurants and the Sandfly stood out as the place to go for breakfast and lunch if you were looking for a comfortable, bright, hipster place with excellent food and coffee.

The breakfast was great (got the bacon and eggs on toast). They had pastries that looked great, though I didn't try any. I did get a soy latte, which was pretty good. They were open pretty early in the morning when we went before heading off for a day trip, which was nice. The service was very friendly.

Very average. I had pancakes, which were dry. Coffee is Bruno Rossi and wasn't flash. Pretty standard prices, maybe I'm just used to better.

Awesome breakfasts, good range of cabinet food, and lovely outdoor tables. Seems popular with the locals - always a good sign. The indoor seating is a bit cramped so it probably feels crowded on rainy days. Staff were friendly and very relaxed about us staying on for a second coffee.
