Nice ambiance, great food. Ordered their house special, Chicken Filo—thin crisp pastry skin, with smoked chicken filling. Their clam chowder is fantastic too, big enough to be a meal on its own.

Drink and food is good but the staff is quite clueless. More concerned about cleaning up unfinished plates than knowing about their drinks and dishes. Decent bar hangout area and outside seating. Dinner area is nice and somewhat fancy.

Really good and simple food. The chowder was really good and filling and the mushroom risotto is better than most smaller local joints. They also has a decent beer and wine selection as well. The staff were also very relaxed and nice

Great food and great service! Stopped by here 2 days in a row for lunch as we were heading our way up North to Milford Sound and back south.

4 for dinner - one ordered a burger with NO SAUCE, got served with sauce so we asked for a new one, new one came with a different sauce so was sent back, third (served by the chef with an apology) came with a burnt bun probably reused each time. Others ordered dry mussels, not cooked salmon fillet and a goat cheese tart not in a tart. Wine was expensive but slightly above average but waitress offered to keep it in the cooler on the floor (even though service was the best thing in the whole experience, who does that?). We were ready to pay and the chef asked our feedback on the food so we gave him, he decided without any request to cancel our bill. I wanted to thank him for the gesture but he refused to shake my hand so we moved towards the exit when he told us "good luck finding better in town". Word of advice chef, calm down, you're by the road with little competition making subaverage food at high price, forget your pride, learn or you'll shut down soon.

I'm not sure what qualifies as a cafe, but I would never have guessed this place was a cafe. It's a restaurant, with nice lighting and all that. It's probably masquerading as a cafe to lure in hungry travelers.

I got a $24 cheeseburger that was subpar. The bun was dry and the bacon tasted old.

My wife got a chicken that was so dry we almost dipped it in water Christmas Vacation style. She couldn't finish it.

The ambience and waitress were nice, so that's a plus.

Stay away from the steak. This was the worst food I tasted in NZ. My husband and I decided to come here by looking at the ratings; however, our experience was quiet dissapointing.

We came today at 12pm and our order was literally at 1:10pm. There were only 3 tables and 2 servers. The place was not even full. We couldn't understand why it was taking so long. All of the sudden my husband keep staring the table behind me and said "Ohh my, this is why I hate when the waitresses don't write our ordersthey just gave our order to someone else (who by the way came only 10 min ago) and that table is complaining that they got something that they did not order.

I was shocked for a moment because the third table already had their food before we even came so our food should have been ready by then. By this time, we pretty much gave our order more than 50 mins ago and still no food in our table.

I kept staring at the waitress that had red hair because I noticed this something the restaurant messed up on their end.

So I went ahead and asked, "could you please tell us when order will be ready? We have been waiting longer than the people that just came in and our food has not come. She only said: "Yes, it is coming soon"

Nevertheless, the waitress seemed like she did not know what was happening and when she went to the bar area she started laughing with the other waitress. Not sure whafmt was funny, but I could have ended that by leaving the place. We had a tour to go so we came here just to have a good time.

In other words, the customer service was terrible. I noticed that my hamburger was microwaved or overcooked because my steak tasted like rubber (I literally had to put salt and ketchup to eat it, eww). We were super hungry and we were running late for our tour so we had no choice, but to eat it

We did not want to make a complain because we noticed that these two servers will have made us more furious than we already were. It would have been a total waste of time. I figure the manager/ owner can handle these things better.

The lack of skills or acknowledgement of error on their end, made this the worst lunch I ever had. The meat was tasteless and gelt like rubber.

Note to the owner of this place: Please train your staff. As foreigners, we want to have a pleasant time and we have no time to tolerate this type of service. This was unacceptable. We are never coming back again.

Looks a lot nicer inside than the outside facade. They not only managed to get us in quickly in spite of being busy, but were experienced enough to know that, with kids, we wouldn't want our order to be behind a large party/celebration and so they made sure we knew to order quickly and they hustled to get our order in. Many, many kudos for doing so. Food is tasty too! Fish and chips was excellent.

Nice atmosphere and decent food. The garlic bread was just a loaf supersaturated with melting butter (could have been a meal to myself), though the burger was good. I would probably try out other restaurants in the area before coming back.
