4Nov16 At the end of an eight hour day of tramping and pulling a groin muscle the young host and hostess came out of the lodge to greet me and the Hollyford Track lead guide (Graham). They welcomed us and ushered us up the steps and inside the shelter of the mosquito screened entry door where there a couple of bottles of cold lemonade were tipped into big glasses for us. The pain didn't go away but my contentment quotient went up to 175℅ as I basked in the welcoming spirit, the satisfaction of finishing the day and the comfort of sitting down. Fifteen minutes later I was standing in a hot shower and fifteen minutes after that I joined the test of the party in the Pryke Lodge dining room for fantastic cold ginger beer and then dinner. I don't remember the rest of the evening except that my head hit my pillow and sleep enfolded me peacefully. Thank you Ngai Tahu for this track and facilities.
