Feels like being a guest in someone's home. Very friendly reception and well-stocked kitchen. Easy access to beach. Limited time free WiFi or $10/day. For the price wish it was included as there is zero reception

I was really disappointed from the way we were treated in this place. When i came to pay i noticed that the woman in the reception charged us ten dollars extra without even mentioning it. I asked her about it and she said its because we are checking out late. It was about 45 minutes after checkout time. Aperently it was writen on a note on one of the refrigirators but since we got there really late we didnt see it. I think that was really shamefull. Also there were so many worning signs in this place its just crazy i dont think anyone will take the time to read all of them. My ipinion is that if you are going to extra charge somene the minimum you should do is tell him in advance. the place charged us extra 10 dollars without further notice us just because we left the room in 45 minutes delay. Only when my husband asked why the extra charge the young lady working there told him that it os due to our late checkout. There was indeed a sign on the refrigirator saying

This is a really nice little place to stay for those that make the effort to get right to the South of the island and visit the Catlins. The view over Curio Bay is beautiful, the private bedrooms rooms and lounge are comfortable and the kitchen has plenty of space and equipment for everyone. It's just a little bit nicer than most of the places I stayed as a backpacked in NZ. Prices for internet access were extremely steep but that isn't surprising taking into account the relative remoteness of the area.

Room was very small, not easy when you are with two persons and backpacks. Also, it would be very helpful if there would be more hooks for hanging clothes.

The outlook from the balkony to the beach "curio bay" is just gorgeous. It takes you 30 seconds to access the beach for easy walks over a big sand beach. Our room was clean, the kitchen as well. We checked ourselves in after finding our name on the black board, so very easy going.

Great location, dolphins just outside the door on most days. Cosy atmosphere, feels like a home.
