This little place is a gem. All the amenities a discerning traveler could want - and the manager Phil is always available to do whatever he can to make your stay perfect. The location is ideal for walking to many tourist attractions, shopping, and restaurants. It’s a nice change from the same old chain hotels. Thanks to Phil and your wonderful staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

We stayed for two days. The room was lovely, we ate at the restaurant which had wonderful and well cooked food for reasonable prices but the best thing was the customer service. Myself and my daughter we treated with respect and made to feel we were important and wanted.
I would recommend this hotel to friends and family and would stay here again.response / report this review -

Amazing hotel. Built in 1897 and moved from Waihi to Rotorua. We were in the Marvelly Suite. Amazing room with fantastic service. Couldn't ask for more. The food was good and the room was comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Had an entertaining evening here. Mack the barman did a wonderful job with his story telling. The bar area was cosy and it was a plus to be able to watch the rugby in comfy lounge area. The pork belly was nice but no crackling let it down I thought.

We stayed here for several days. The ambiance of the main building, and the heated pools were the best aspects. The rooms are comfortable but dated, and the room servicing staff overlooked something almost every day. The restaurant is way overpriced for the quality of cuisine on offer. We found the food very average. So, a reasonable and central place to stay with a sense of old world grandeur, but eat somewhere else !

Amazing place to stay in Rotorua, Beautiful ambiance and friendly staff.Only drawbacks were, room didn't have proper ventilation and shower had no water pressure ,was bit hard to use.

Large rooms but a bit old, so is the furniture. But has everything you might need, except for a safe.

Quaint, convenient, rustic. The rooms are small but adequate. Easy walk to hot sulfur pools and lake views.

Beautiful little hotel in the city center of Rotorua. Very nice, comfy rooms. The continental breakfast was way overprized, though.

Third stay here. There are 2 parts to the hotel. The old rustic part which is lovely if a little noisy but full of charm. Then there is 1980 addition that is souless and run down for price. We ended up in the latter hence the 2 stars.
