Very nice & clean motel.
A friendly hotel which provides a good service
Super clean and comfortable hosts knowledgeable about what to do and what is going on. Walking distance to the lake, pubs, and shops. This place is value for money
It's a little inside the main town. Though the town is tiny i.e it's away from lakefront about 500m. The place is very nice. Spacious rooms with nice bathroom and a adequately equipped community kitchen. Nice place if you don't intend to spend much time in hotel but keep exploring around. They have a spa and sauna too Not very costly but has to be booked.
Great place! Huge rooms, really affordable prices, friendly staff and full communal kitchen and laundry. I'd definitely stay here again.
friendly, good service and place are clean.
Pros: very affordable. Clean. Close to the center of town. Communal kitchen for cooking. Friendly reception.
Cons: saggy beds (woke up with a sore back). Slow to non-functional wifi. Shower has curtains but no floor divider so water flows everywhere on the floor
Amazing value for money accommodation, offering a safe, clean and cosy stay. Guest services manager was a really nice guy too
Excellent value for money. Brilliant communal kitchen allowing you to cook for yourself with food from the nearby supermarket. Rooms were warm and clean. Great shower too.
Very good kitchen, good and comfortable room. The owner is super nice.
We stayed at Parklands Motel for two nights on the 3rd and 4th of March 2010. From there, we used this as a base for a day trip to Milford Sound.
The accommodation yet basic was very clean and tidy. It is a testament to the owners (who seem to run and also service the hotel) as to the pride they have in their business. We stayed in a family unit where there was a queen bed and two single beds in two areas, one a bedroom (with the 2 single beds) and a general living area where there was a 2 and 3 seater couch along with the queen sized bed and TV. The beds were clean, warm and comfortable - what more can you ask for???
In between the bedrooms was the bathroom which was roomy and very clean. There is no bath but a sizable shower. Outside the bathroom was a benchtop where there was a bar fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. A kettle and some cups and glasses (with complementary teas, coffee and hot chocolate) were provided. This was a useful area as there were powerpoints where you could charge the plethora of electronic devices (eg iPods, GPS etc).
Although there were no cooking facilities in the room itself there was a huge common room/kitchen area where there were two full kitchens with all the utilities and utensils. There is also a sofa and some dining tables/chairs for you to have your meal. The owners must be complimented for keeping the common area so clean and tidy and complete with crockery and utensils. There is also a shared laundry where you can wash a load for $2 (there is a clothes line outside to dry the clothes).
The location of the motel was convenient. Although not in the centre of Te Anau, it was within walkable distance (approx 10 mins walk) to the main drag where there were supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants and pubs. Also it was only a 5 min stroll to Lake Te Anau.
All in all, Parklands Motel was a clean well run motel that is good value and I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a motel in Te Anau.
