Clean and visually appealing facilities especially with the rose bushes. The hot breakfast was delicious. The hotel is also located within walking distance of all the amenities in town we used.

Old rooms, old carpet, old furniture, dirty bed sheets (don't think they replace or wash it properly), smelly atmosphere, poor facilities in rooms Pictures are for deception only. Very bad experience Got a 5-start experience with the same price in Queenstown but this one was hardly 1 star JUST RUN!!

Great position, lake views. Excellent meals. Host Gina made our dining a very pleasant experience. Excellent base for doing the Milford Sound tour. Close to all main street shops.

Beautiful view! Back door to room opened onto patio across from Lake Te Anau. Excellent service. Bathroom a bit outdated but amenities excellent.

I didn't actually stay at the Distinction Hotel but had to write a review about the exceptionally warm and professional team I encountered there in December 2016. My grandfather, now 102, was driven up to Te Anau by my parents to meet me and my wife as he was unable to make our wedding in the north island. However, the drive from Dunedin had taken its toll when they arrived and, having stopped at the hotel to see if he could use their facilities to freshen up, he became faint and was unable to walk. The manager provided a lovely room for him to lie down in for a few hours to rest. When I arrived he was refreshed enough to walk and we had dinner in the MacKinnon restaurant in the hotel. The food and service was excellent but the care and attention shown by Michela, Atshi, Dharma and Aneesh was exceptional. My sincere thanks to the manager and team for looking after us. For anyone looking for a level of service above and beyond the norm I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. - Des Amanono, UK

Worst bed ever, don't waste your $$$ here. Supposed to be a King bed, instead they pushed two terrible twin beds together and called it good. Which is great if you happen to hate who your on holiday with, not my case though. Also, booked a villa then was told we were upgraded to a "suite" upon check in. Went to the roomturns out it was a villa, what an upgrade. I'm not normally so critical but I also don't normally drop this much $$$ on a hotel room, was looking for something relaxing, didn't find it.

Perfect location. Staff are very friendly and the views are unparalleled. Only comment I would make is that the door to the room lets a lot of sound through from the corridor but that won't stop me sleeping tonight!
