  New owners now so forget the old reviews. The hotel is right on the rail trail so is a great place to stay. This was very much a unique experience for us that made our holiday a memorable one. Staying in a charming historic hotel, relaxing in the comfortable sitting room overlooking the trail and enjoying a great dinner and conversation with other travellers and our hosts, Jan and Dean. Recommended.

  Warm friendly hosts Jan and Dean. Beautiful restored heritage accommodation. Comfortable bed, great dinner. Stunning views. Highly recommend a visit.

  Newly reopened and superb hospitality from Jan and Dean. New bookings being taken now for next season opening from 1st October 2017. Highly recommended for Otago Central Rail Trail cyclists.

  This place has now closed (both accommodation and cafe). Accommodation is brilliant 400m up the road at the Hyde School Accommodation (they provide supper & breakfast for guests only).

  Since the last review the management has changed. Nothing served for lunch and the cabinet food looks and taste sad. Give this place a miss for lunch if you're biking through.

  We stayed here as part 3 of our rail trail journey, the food was great, especially the 3 course idea.
  
  We stayed up at the school houses, which were very comfortable, and easy to find from the hotel.
  
  Would stay again!
