Car died on the very second day. Called to try to get a replacement but they said to take it into their garage for a check. Who has time on a vacation to sit in a garage to check out a car that is supposed to be maintained by the rental company? In addition when we picked up the car it had not been cleaned very well. When I returned the car I overhead another customer on the phone saying that their car had broken down the same day they picked it up. The staff at the office could have cared less. Told them to call AAA instead of offering a replacement. I would not recommend omega again. Go with Ace instead which I used for my second leg of my trip.

We had a wonderful experience with Omega. From being collected by the shuttle at the airport, to being presented our lovely clean car, and being returned to the airport at the end. All staff were efficent and friendly. The car provided and car seat were well presented and lovely to drive. We found Omega really affordable too. Thanks heaps for a great experience Omega Christchurch Airport Depot!

Had no problems whatsoever renting a car for 9 days from Omega. The staff were very courteous toward us. We returned the car having filled up with petrol just prior to leaving it, as per contract. Again, no problems. A shuttle bus soon arrived to transport us to the airport. A pleasant experience.

Hired a small car (Mazda Demio) from the Christchurch Airport branch. The on-line booking was fine, the pick-up and greeting at the airport was easy, and the staff at the branch were friendly early in the morning. Car was fine - exactly what we expected, and the price was good.
Downside: we rented snow chains that came with the car and we failed to check them before leaving. Turns out they were damaged and missing parts, so failed spectacularly on a steep mountain access road - this could have been a life-threatening failure. Omega seemed to have difficulty working out what to do, but eventually delivered a new set of chains to a third party who brought them to us on the mountain. No problem after that.
Upshot - if you are hiring additional equipment with the car, make sure its there, it works and it will continue working while you need it.
On return, no problems at all and the staff were again all accommodating and friendly. I'd use Omega again, with the provisos above!response / report this review -

It was nice to have Omega rental car services, nice people and quick process to get a car. Good information been provided during pick-up the car. Just one small thing, It would be more convenient if can having the telephone number of Christchurch Airport office for contacting.

We rented a Subaru Forester for 2 weeks in New Zealand. The car drove well, but sadly our experience with Omega customer service wasn't great. The car was dirty when we received it, floor mats were wet and there was mud stains on the seats and in the car boot. When we got out of the car, the sides left a brown residue on our jeans.
Shortly later, we realized the car didn't have a parcel tray to cover the boot area (so all our luggage was exposed and in plain sight).
We called omega the following morning and were dismissed quickly, saying "we can't do anything. some of our cars don't come with that".
We were quite worried about the car being broken into and our belongings being stolen, because whose liability is it if a theft occurred? We called another Omega branch in Christchurch city for assistance and the saving grace was that the lady who took our call there was very helpful and did her best to help us out. In the end, she recommended that we call the airport branch again and ask to speak with the manager of the airport branch. The manager seemed to understand our concerns and eventually retrieved a parcel tray from another Forester for our use.

Pick up from airport arrived within 10 minutes of letting Omega know we had arrived. Quick trip to their offices. Smoothly completed paperwork. Told we could take photos of the condition of the car as we did the walk around (which I thought was a great idea). Car was as expected, clean and filled up. Got lost before we even left the airport (closed off road) but eventually headed south. Pouring with rain as we dropped off the car and another quick drop off at airport in BRAND NEW shuttle! Great people, car and experience. Will be using again.

Prompt collection from airport, no hassle pickup of car. Clean, tidy. Awesome car for the week. Fantastic value @$22/day including insurance. We will use Omega again for sure. Many thanks

Omega offered cars at a very good rate. The Mazda Demio was modern and clean, with good fuel consumption. Pick up at Christchurch Airport was very simple and the staff friendly, and similarly drop off at Auckland Downtown. We were able to bring forward our return date and change the location easily and with no cost, we even got a refund for the two days we were not using. There were no hidden costs, and no attempt to say we had damaged the car in any way. I would thoroughly recommend Omega cars and would happily rent with them again in the future.

We had a great experience with Omega. From pick up to return. The car, a 2016 Toyota Corolla was economical and so easy to drive. It fitted all our luggage and was comfortable the whole 100kms journey. And to top off the adventure the shuttle driver who returned us to the airport suggested trying for an earlier flight, as we had time. Thank you so much. We missed the worst of the incoming storm. Great all round experience.

Very satisfied with the service I received. The after-hours pick up system worked well. Car was well prepared and was good value for money. Drop-off was quick and efficient and staff helpful. Shuttle to the airport was prompt. Would use Omega again without hesitation.

Fantastic company with extremely cheap rentals for the more budget conscious traveller. We went for the cheapest option of car and did exactly what we needed to get us around the West Coast of the South Island safely and in a very fuel efficient car. Very professional and reliable to work with - would definitely use again.

Just rented from Omega for 7 days, typically I use another provider but Omega beat them hands down on price so I thought I'd give them a go! As a regular user of rental cars I thought that Omega were efficient, well priced and great value for money. We'll use them again over our [previous] provider so Omega have probably secured a great repeat customer. Their gain - our last providers lose! Good work Omega! See you soon!

Very easy to hire online from Omega Car rentals. Great to have the ability to pick-up and drop off at different locations.
We unfortunately had a flat battery in our rental vehicle a few days into out trip, but were amazed at the excellent and immediate support from Omega and AA. We had a jump start from AA and drove to the nearest auto electric facility for installation of a new battery, all charged directly to Omega. The entire incident delayed our continued travelling by just over an hour. Thank you, Omega, for excellent service.
Apart from this incident our trip around South Island was comfortable and very economical in a great-to-drive vehicle.response / report this review
