Location is great for anything in the tongariro national park, standard facilities that you would expect in youth hostels, though some free WiFi would be nice.

A very nice place that let us sleep in our camper van in the parking lot and use their indoor facilities for $15 per person. Very friendly staff, big kitchen and tidy bathroom.

Location was perfect as we only stayed there to do the 8 hour hike the next morning. Wi-Fi not working at all when we arrived until we checked out. Bar across the road was okay for food and drinks, however most of the staff were very rude! Therefore I wouldn't go back. The staff at yha were friendly and accommodating. Rooms and hostel facitilies were okay but nothing special. Extremely dated. The only highlight of our stay was the on sight indoor wall climb. Would only recommend stay if on budget and wish to be close to the national park for the hike.

Full service hostel with a full size ROCK WALL! Great location near to the best activities in Tongariro and great value. Only downside is inadequate Wi-Fi.

A very friendly and welcoming backpackers, good tidy bathroom and large kitchen open all hours, dorms well set up with enough space for bags. The climbing wall is a great addition in case the weather is bad. Staff helpful and knowledgeable. The TV lounge is small and cold but there's plenty of space in the kitchen to hang out and read etc.

My only real complaint was that the windows didn't open in my dorm and it got very damp with everyone's towels hanging up to dry. It's a bit cold inside in the morning so make sure you have warm inside clothes and shoes.

Great views of the mountains of tongariro and a short walk to a good spot on the road to photograph them. Otherwise facilities unremarkable, no lockers, beds below average, expensive for what it was in my opinion. Cold when i stayed there. Lounge area huge. Kitchen and fridge very small.

Decent kitchen and shower facilities, climbing wall is also there if that takes your fancy (additional cost). Offer shuttles to and from the crossing at the going rate. Beds were a bit run down and no lockers. Short walk to a petrol station with a convenience store, also a bar next door. Great views of the volcanoes

Not a bad place but the dorm smelt like a sewer. There was no control or care about the stuff put in the room so old shoes and equipment stank to high hell.
The driver to the start point was great though. So friendly and helpful

Stayed at during summer season. Clean rooms and well built kitchen, plus a smaller overflow kitchen. An exceedingly well developed climbing wall available for a good price. Has track transport and is close to drop off points of competitors if necessary. Location provides a good view of both volcanoes on a nice day and is close to local amenities. Staff was helpful and patient with requests. Met and in some cases exceeded my expectations for a backpackers lodge for its price point.

Everything is perfect! The room is cosy and beautiful, the kitchen provides a nostalgic environment, the staffs are very helpful and friendly and the view is picturesque as this place is close to the mountain. You can have a majestic snowy morning and warm friendly afternoon on the same day! If you need someplace to escape from your hectic life, this is definitely the place to be.
