Great service and so close to home. Why go all the way to town when we have the best cinema right in Upper Hutt

We love this little theatre! It's very popular and busy, I'd recommend to book your seats before you go

Surprisingly good cinema for Upper Hutt. A great replacement for the collapsed Event Cinema - great prices (except of course for food, which is criminal like any other cinema)

A nice cinema, basic hot food and alcoholic beverages. Staff generally nice but not concerned with issue in ladies restroom.

Nice theatre with all the facilities. Normal popcorn and drinks, but also offer meals, snacks, coffees and drinks.

Comfy seats, the latest movies, can bring your draught beer or wine in with you. I'd like to independent or foreign movies here, but I suppose they have to pay the bills with blockbusters. Good experience, glad to have a decent sized cinema back in Upper Hutt.

We watched a movie with my son and his partner on the holidays and we enjoyed the experience. It is spacious, clean toilets and has a candy bar. The same standard we come to expect of New Zealand cinemas.

Upscale and tasteful cinema with an even balance of commercial and artistic films. Great quality theatres are couple with excellent local craft beer selection, and delicious ice creams.

I have seen two movies at Monterey in the past week due to my local Queensgate Event currently not operating. Our first experience was average however the cinema was very dark and my mother and daughter were both nervous finding their way down the stairs when going out to the toilet halfway through the film. Our second experience was very disappointing. Upon entering our cinema was littered with popcorn, popcorn boxes and empty cups. Before sitting we had to sweep masses of popcorn off our seats. I've never been to a cinema where cleaning has so obviously not taken place. The next problem was no audio! I has to leave the cinema and tell staff of the problem. We will return to Monterey solely because it is the only viable option at the moment but once Event is back in business we shall return to their superior theatres and customer service.

Watched a movie in 3D and it was way too dark to see what was happing. Was wondering as first it I could she more or less with the 3D glasses.
Also the cinema was way too hot and everyone was released to go outside and cool off at the end of the movie.
Ice cream wasn't that great eather rather as was icy and tastes watery. Cone was good through.

Went with two others to watch rogue one tonight and the male staff member on duty barely made eye contact, didn't say more than a couple of words and looked put out to serve us, . Went back to ask if the we could move seats from the ones we were assigned i was told that no it's not possible as it's assigned seating and it's pretty full. Definitely not the case, as it was less than a third full. I appreciate they may be busy due to the lower hutt theatre closing but expected basic customer service. Two stars, only because I liked the movie.
