This was a great walk. Great gardens kept very tidy. Plenty of Ducks at the Pond Too!

Tip.. Get the cable car to the top and walk down through the gardens. This will save a lot of energy, if (like me) that's your style :)

Excellent, covers a large area with a huge range of plants and trees, mostly labelled. Well laid tracks around the gardens ranging from formal, to native temperate jungle. The Wellington cable car arrives at the top of the hill near the observatory.

One of the must visit places in Wellington. The botanic garden is situation on a hill overlooking the city and is very scenic. A nice walk not far from the city centre. If you are short of time, get the cable car up then walk down to the city, it’s around 30 minutes walk (longer if you want to explore the garden).

A nice place to walk around. Very friendly for all people. Lots of different walks to do. Lots of different plants, flowers and trees to look at. There is a duck pond here and a playground. On one of the walks you can access the cable car

I love the gardens. Haven't been to any like this before. In between the hills you need good walking shoes as there's a lot of up and down tracks. Can spend ages walking round all the different ways. . Perfectly located next to the Wellington tram 🚋 car. No need to o walk up or drive up. And a great cafe right next door. Amazing views from the lookout in the gardens as well. .

The only reason for a 4 star is it started to rain but would get a 5 star in the summer as there is so much to see and lovely to sit and watch the world go around. It has a range of entertainment, play areas and spots to sit with a blanket and book surrounded by beautiful settings.

Beautiful flower arrangements in spring/summer. They also have a music festival in January that is great free entertainment. The Rose Garden is a must!

Lovely garden to stroll through on a sunny day. The bird sounds all around takes you away from the city. Did visit it in the middle of winter so possibly not at its best but still left an impression. Definitely walk through the fragrant garden, lovely attack on your senses.

Probably the best free thing to do in the city if you don't take the cable car.

You can also take the car up one way then walk down to Bowen street to easily get back to the CBD.

Great place to spend a hour or two just walking or jogging around on the paved trail through the 25 hectare (62 acre) garden featuring native forest and seasonal displays.
The garden is classified as a Garden of National Significance by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture.
A added bonus is that you can ride the Wellington Cable Car from Lambton Quay to the top of the Botanic Garden, and walk down hill through the garden.

Came on a rainy day but it let up and was quite nice. This place is beautifulA must if you're in the area. Nice playground in the middle for kids. Be prepared to hike up and down. You get some exercise.

Amazingly situated near central Wellington impressive and well-loved Garden – romantic in spring we are yet to see the garden in other seasons. Best to visit the website download the Botanical map if you like to plan your trip & transportation.

What a beautiful place! Come here to watch much of the local culture - folks on first time dates, families, groups of friends and so on. It's all lit up at times and that's lovely too. Great place for bringing sketchbook and watercolors.
