It's an okay place. We came with backpacks from the station and it's just unbearable to walk. Very very steep roads. The walk to city centre is great, not too far actually (30 min. or so). Rooms were okay, showers outdated but nice after 2 months of campervanning. Reception closes in afternoon and though she said she would be back at 4. She wasn't there when we needed her. Bit annoying. Lots of rules like no shoes, no noise after 9:30. People sleeping here are just i don't know, doing nothing, just behind their smartphones.. a bit boring hostel. We liked to explore Parnell!

    Pros
    - free Wifi with no limit
    - showers with high pressure
    - Located near the city centre
    - Quiet

    Cons
    - showers not quite clean and floors are falling apart
    - only enough space for 5-6 people to eat at the same time
    - only parking on street
    - the manager is not always at the office during office hours
    - Expensive and small compared to other places
    - No sitting outside after 10pm even if you are quiet, yet the house over the road will have a loud party every Friday and Saturday night
    - No oven
    - Ants will get into your food
    - kitchen is too small.

Well everything for me was reasonable and livable except for the flooring and the bedroom. There was always an awful smell because the flooring was carpet that was holding in the dirt and liquids that people dragged in with them. And then the beds didn't feel very clean. According to other people in the hostel at the time the linens would be cleaned sometimes and the comforter would just get a good spray of air freshener and that's it. I just slept on the couch most nights and that served me well.

There are a few things about this place that make me not want to recommend this place. Firstly, the receptionist keeps very odd hours, making checking in and out very inconvenient. Also our "double bed" was actually two single mattresses pushed together, which promptly slid apart when when we got too close to the middle of the bed. The bathroom was also moudly and the showers were dirty.

I chose the place because of the free parking. It's in a quiet neighbourhood with a neighbour that complains about every little sound and tries to get the place closed down. That's why there's no sitting outside after 21:30. You have to take off your shoes inside which I found unusual but not a big issue. The hostel is very clean and they have free wifi. The dorms are of an average size with lockers. The property is in good shape except for the showers which are rundown and require maintenance though the water pressure is excellent and warm. The kitchen is to small, that is really an issue. Cooking with more than 2 people is almost impossible. The property is about a 20 minute walk from downtown. The atmosphere was great though and I met a lot of nice people. I would stay here again.

    Pros
    - free Wifi, little bit less than 1MBit/s
    - clean kitchen
    - showers with high pressure

    Cons
    - showers not quite clean
    - only enough space for 5-6 people to eat at the same time
    - only parking on street, not a guaranteed parking spot
    - the manager is not at the office during office hours

We paid 35$ pp for a 4 people dorm and I regret it. I would not recommend this hostel.
