I have been there twice. It was a really good atmostphere. Inside of the restaurant is decorated with Chinese style. There are a lot of tables which are available for more than 70 people. My favourite dish was roast pork and duck on rice and beef with black peper. It was pretty nice food so, we had to put a little bit of chilli (which's on each table). The taste of it was delicious a little bit spicy and salty . The staff gave us a good service and they also were friendly. Finally, when I went there, I wasn't disappointed.

I would normally dine in but on this occasion I decided to order to take away and ordered 3 dishes and when I picked up my order was releaved of nearly $50.
But when I got home to enjoy the meal the containers were only half full and not much vegetable and mostly swimming in liquid.
Will not be ordering take away meals from here again as not much food for the price.
Only good thing was the reusable containers.

Nice Chinese restaurant. Booking required. Dinner only available for 2 hr each booking. They take group bookings for tourists too so always very busy.

If you're after the all time kiwi favourites like sweet&sour pork and lemon chicken etc this place will be perfect. If you're after authentic Chinese dining experience, look further.

“Best Chinese Restaurant in Christchurch”

Thank goodness for Joyful Restaurant, I love the food here, I've been dining at this as well as the old location for over 15 years and never have I been disappointed. Egg foo yong, crispy skin pork, lemon chicken, spicy squid and fried dumplings are my favourite dishes. Love Joyful.
