Just a brilliant easy walk with awesome scenery

Sadly a large section is shut right now, about 1km from the Southern entrance, due to large rockfalls. Check the DoC website for current conditions.
We did walk from the other end of the trail, up to the suspension bridge where the trail is closed again. That was a 3-4 hour walk making the drive along the gravel track worth the effort.response / report this review -

Great 2,5h return railway walk with beautiful waterfalls, swing bridge and nice atmosphere. DO IT !!!

Most of the track is an easy bike ride. The track is covered with rock slides in places so you'll likely need to walk over those.

Really love this spot. Walked it on three occasions and never disappointed. Always see interesting bird life and stunning views of the river. There is great signage and trail is very well maintained. There are spots with a fair bit of mud so boot or shoes you don't mind getting dirty are recommended.

Nice way with good maintained paths. You can walk up the old mining railway with some cool spots like a waterfall and a few bridges
