  I stopped by here to buy something to eat after having hiked the Old Ghost Road over the course of four days. The American who owns the place could not have been colder. I tried to strike up a conversation with him, and his replies were monosyllables. I figured he didn't want to talk - that's okay.
  
  He picked up my plate within 10 seconds of my taking the last bite and then stood by me staring. I felt very unwelcome and pressured to leave.
  
  The people in New Zealand tend to be very warm and welcoming people. This guy is the polar opposite. Please don't give him your money!
