When you go to the capital you need to go to the capitol restaurant. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. To top it off the lamb dish was excellent with a side order of beans. When ordering dessert, we're asked if we want coffee at the same time or afterwards. Thank you.

A delightful evening. Amazing service and atmosphere, but most importantly the food was fantastic. I recommend the antipasto platter, lamb shank and sticky date pudding.

Other whanau ate here and enjoyed it. We met up with them after they had paid the bill and moved to a bigger table. Although we weren't eating there they poured glasses of chilled water for us and kept them topped up till we eventually left.

We've just had a superb meal at Capitol. The wait staff couldn't have been nicer, more helpful or friendly; full of personality and they really know their stuff. I had the best lamb I've had in years, so good I was tempted to lick the plate. I couldn't manage dessert, but I know it would have been incredible. 10/10 to wait staff and chefs, thank you so much for a memorable evening.

Excellent all around. We walked in without a booking, but it was on the late side and they gave us a table. The place is very small with a really cramped kitchen. The service was prompt and they have an excellent selection of wines by the glass. I enjoyed that. We ordered the bread/butter which was a very small serving, only 1 slice cut in half. We then ordered the bruschetta was quite good, but also very small. I had the amazing : House smoked cheddar and ricotta gnocchi with burnt butter. Really spot on, but very filling, even with a smaller portion.

Amazing food for lunch (pumpkin and carrot soup and smoked salmon) and the wait staff was kind. Our waitress went above and behind to help us find out where to get a great cheese board, naming different NZ cheeses to try.
