Great food, great atmosphere. Very well crafted food, and very adequate portions. Slightly pricey, but still reasonable.

Tldr we were unorganized and difficult and they made the evening special.
My beautiful and I had just got engaged and in a whim her brother asked us out to dinner, to which her entire family tagged along, we were insanly unorganized and difficult, her family having both dairy free and gluten free running in the family. But the wonderful people at Caffe E Cucina made it all work and to our timeframe. One of our number needed to be at work in half an hour and still wanted to join in the festivities, and the wait staff obliged with bringing his meal out in very quick time. All in all with a complicated, substituted, gluten free, dairy free, 'what's in this' order and unorganized guests the serving and cooking staff of Caffe E Cucina made a wonderful evening for us all.

I feel this place is extremely overpriced for the quality of food. $25 for a medium sized plate of pasta with plain tomato sauce or pesto is in no way worth it. Especially when the flavour doesn't blow you away

Allora. Dove cominciare. (So where to start)
It was pretty good - but - it is EXPENSIVE for what you get.

Maybe we just haven't been out too much recently and have lost touch with prices - but the gift vouchers I got to the value of $120 had to be topped up by $20. We had a shared 'piccolo' (rosemary garlic bread), a 'primi' each (scallops) - and we shared a pizza as the main! As far as wine went, we had 2 glasses of wine each (Pinot Gris (Italian) - and house red).

The Antipodes sparkling water might have been the killer - $12.00 for a litre (and we had 2 bottles - was a hot day and the chilli sauce with the rosemary garlic bread was hot & spicy!) - and I hadn't noticed the price on the menu!

Was only at home later when I did the math that I discovered this. (Was too busy enjoying speaking italian with the waiter when paying the bill - to go over it in detail. (sto imparando la lingua - I'm learning the language).

I think this is over the top for NZ manufactured water. Maybe the alcohol level law change in the last couple of years means there's not so much wine drunk now, so the revenue needs to come from somewhere - vero (right?)!

The food quality was good, better than good, though the capasante (scallops) 'primi' could have been bigger - the staff were friendly and the service was fine. The CEC house red wine (Pinot Noir @$8 / glass) was a good price - and good enough quality - to be fair.

    Would I go back?

Only if someone else was paying - which is a shame - mi piace la cucina italiana (I like the italian kitchen (lit) = italian cuisine).

    Forza Inter!

Always a great place to go. Food is fabulous and they have no issues if you wish to change items to suit pallet. Gluten free options. Great service and heaps of (free) parking outside the door makes this a great place to take customers and friends. Best Italian on the shore imho.
