great place to stay, very quiet, all you need, recommended a+
Stayed on an unpowered site on quite a windy night. Had no reservation and turned up at 7.30pm as our car couldn't handle the gravel track to get to the free DOC campsite just North of Hanmer Springs (NB: If going to free DOC campsite use the road West of Hanmer rather than Jollies Pass Road as it is steep, gravel, and not maintained). Plenty of space and freedom to pitch the tents wherever we pleased. Paid $13 pp for the pitch (not bad). Free unlimited hot showers included. Facilities worked however were very dated. Mens toilet had a broken lock however the womens seemed fine + clean.
A few sandflies buzzing around. Small play area for kids and a tyre swing on a tree.
Would recommend in a pinch.
Alpine holiday is a cozy, warm, welcoming place to stay. Everything you need, and nothing you don't. Lyn, is a wonderful host who goes above and beyond to sort out all your problems and needs. Highly recommend.
Staff were absolutely lovely and very welcoming. When there were fires along a nearby road, we were offered a free extra night, just in case we were unable to get to our next destination
The room was musty, cold and very outdated.
The TV had one channel with overloaded power points to run appliances that popped when using microwave.
Found utensils in draw that had been used for drug use on elements. Knife was burnt and stained.
Duvet supplied smelt like they had not been in a laundromat for some time.
Nice and quite stunning views fantastic people and very responsible
the ground was hard to get tent pegs into so bring a hammer , close to town though and great prices, definitely worth the stay, really makes you feel as though you are 'in' hamner springs ;)
Good price, quiet, safe for the kids
We are staying ten nights in a powered site its cost $380 for ten nights with two adults two babies a teenager and a dog it's great that we can bring the dog, facilities are all clean and easy accessed awesome walks nearby only a five minute drive into town and so much to do
Best value accommodation in Hanmer by far, well behaved pets allowed, lovely family camp environment, rooms and facilities are old lodge style but extremely clean & tidy. Would highly recommend The Smithy log cabin for people wanting more than just basic rooms and even that was very affordable. The grounds has access to some of the best bike & walking tracks I have ever been on. Lee & Greg were the most lovely hosts. Could not fault a thing!
