One of the most risky airport in the world. We often hear about accident in the airport. I don't recommend this airport for travellers because life is more important than enjoy climbing Himalayas. This is a small airport and they don't have international standard facilities and services within the airport.

Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport in Nepal till date. Despite my wish to rank it as a five star rated airport, I am giving it just a three star. Why? Because it deserves so. First, it provides limited services to the travellers. In this modern era of technological sophistication and advancement, TIA looks and feels like primitive at best. Second, it has not accomodated itself with the pace of ever increasing air traffics. There have been reports of repeated holds of airplane on air. TIA needs to improve alot.

For annually a little over 3 million passengers the airport seems not to be the biggest one and has not that "international Look-and -Feel" but rather a local one. Nothing wrong with that because you are eventually in Nepal. Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) is an international airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. The airport is about six kilometers from the city center, and located in the Kathmandu Valley. It is the only international airport in Nepal. Radisson Hotel Kathmandu operates an executive lounge for first and business class passengers for some airlines, and Thai Airways operates a lounge for its business-class passengers, as well as Star Alliance Gold card holders.

Hire well qualified person not relatives. Need to improve each and everything. Not even enough place to stay while waiting for the flight .

The most Under managed airport. :( My heart comes to my mouth whenever I fly or Land in and from this airport. I am ashamed that this airport is one and only international airport of this country.
Even the under maintained local train station of most countries, is better than TIA. I can only hope, this airport does not take my life, as it has taken many. I wish it was maintained in all aspects.

Only international airport available in the country which takes the flight to most the countries in world. I have been myself many times. The quality of airport has been upgraded recent times. It has been made more systematic which makes it easy for the passengers. Also the Pre-paid taxi service has been initiated so the transportation to different destinations like hotels, lodge, and others have been made easy from airport. Also has domestic flight service. Welcome to Nepal.

Reasonably well functioning airport, though sometimes the lines can be long. Visa on arrival requires you to use one of the computers for this purpose before the immigration counters, but unfortunately these computers are often broken. Only airport in the world I've been to where they scan you and your bags upon arrival, but BEFORE you pick up your checked-in luggage. Can't see the point, as you can then just put any offending items in the bag you check in. Limited shopping, but you can get refreshments.

Only international airport of Nepal. It has all the basic facilities and the waiting lounge is not too bad and they also have free drinking water, which is a plus. However, the worst thing I have ever experienced in this airport is the long wait for baggage during arrival. It would be better if they had a state of the art duty free shopping and better restaurants and eateries like most international airports do.

The airport is made up of two terminals: domestic and international. This is a chaotic airport, with lines/queues for nearly everything and a lot more security checks than most travellers are used to.Many travellers report airport staff asking for handouts or gifts, or locals offering their help with luggage trolleys, though the trolley are free.Bathrooms are in terrible condition. Bring your own toilet paper and soap! The airport is small with very few facilities; restrooms are rarely clean.Several reports of airport workers asking for "gifts" or bribes after falsely claiming that you have missing or wrong paperwork. There are two passenger terminals, one domestic and one international. The domestic terminal has more of a bus-station vibe.

The only international airport of Nepal offering domestic flights too. It is located in sinamangal kathmandu.standard wise not so good but these days some kinds of renovation are being done. The trolleys are free of cost for everyone. Taxis are available for tourist at the stands. There are shops outside the airport if they want anything. Even telecoms sell simcards.

It is one and only International airport in Nepal that operates both domestic and international flights. This is a small airport in terms of it's air traffic flow and has only one runway. The airport is congested during the peak hours. The airport has limited infrastructures and not well maintained. Airport personnel seems to be not motivated to provide service to their best.
Baggage claim area is over crowded and chaotic. However they have done a lot in recent times. They need to develop a good public service. They have now a newly built terminal that serves for internal flights.

The infrastructure at this airport is very poor.

At arrival there are automated visa machines but the e-reading of the passports does not function and you have to manually enter all the data (and this takes a lot of time as the user interface is very cumbersome). Once you applied for the visa you can go to the counter to pay but although it states that you can pay with Visa they in practice only allow you to pay in cash. The plus point was that all collection of the luggage is checked with your ticket before you can get away with it.

At the departure, make sure you do your (minimal) shopping and eating/drinking before you go through the security check because after it - at the gates - there only one minimal shop that sells food, drinks and small items at horrible prices.

Improvement required. Being the one and only international airport of Nepal it is not in the condition or status it is supposed to be. It is included in top worst airport all around the world. It has small area and runaway is the major problem. Runaway in this airport is only suitable for domestic flights . The infrastructure of this airport should also be managed.

The only international airport in Nepal. Though it has only one runway it is serving nice. Food places should be improved and some more belts should be added.

Generally like a bus station of a low tier city.

Super weird that you can’t leave the airport anymore once you have a boarding pass. All the shops and lounges are after leaving customs and before going through security.

There’s a customs departure card. Not sure why it exists. There are no pens anywhere around the customs area to fill it nor does the customs agent ever try to look at it.

This airport shares one runway with the domestic airport and the air force. In the morning, several flights leave for Mt. Everest.

The structure is very simple. It is difficult to lose one’s way.

There is only one duty free shop. Other shops are of souvenirs.

I recommend you not to expect too much. Then this airport is of standard level.

I would give 3 star rating for its goal of getting better. Over the years, the quality has been definitely improved from being the worlds worst airport. May be the airport market should care about better pricing.

Only one International airport in Nepal as of now, having nice architecture but needs lots of improvements and management. Foods in the airport is too much costly, staff are not much cooperative, should have great hospitality. Hope the Government of Nepal will put effort to make this airport more beautiful and well managed.

Security is almost non existent, visa procedures are quite easy, no need for pictures, there are some machines (not a lot of them working) where you fill your data and it takes a picture of you on spot. Transportation to the airport should also be improved As well as the old infrastructures

Great airport architecture. The airport is usually crowded in noon. Easily accessible by Taxi and Bus. Immigration is smooth and requires less time. Duty free shops have less choices and overpriced. There's not enough seats for passengers in Departure Zone. Staffs are friendly and hospitable. Overall, it was good.
