The basement of the hotel is occupied by a rather noisy sports bar. Depending on the room or your personal sensitivity to noise, this can by quite a problem and actually was in my case. The room is on the lower end of basic and the hotel would benefit from a general renovation. The included breakfast is one extremly simple toast and some cheap juice, hung to your door knob in the morning. Coffee is to be paid extra. Basically: It is not worth calling a breakfast and you have to eat it in your room, the hotel lacking the facilities. Starbucks is around the corner.

The location close to the city center and the price seemed to be reasonable for Norway. There are, however some distinctive downsides to it and I would recommend to avoid it if possible.

Quite low budget style hotel. Smelly corridors, (mostly) small rooms and extremely noisy. If you like your peace and quiet, don't stay here or at least demand a room on the backside of the hotel. It is right in a busy nightlife spot and you will hear loud music and people shouting. Alarm bells should go off when you see the complimentary earplugs they offer at reception. Breakfast is not real breakfast, but a bag with a ham/cheese sandwich and a bottle of apple like juice they hang outside your door in the morning. There is no fridge or water boiler in the room, although the latter can be borrowed from the the reception. They don't clean the room every day, just drop off some fresh towels.
This hotel was booked for us by a travel agency (since the regular hotel was full), but I would not advise you to stay here if you can afford a better place.
Only plus points: helpful staff, clean beds and bathroom, lies in the center of Bergen.

Fantastic staff. Last minute baby bed was acquired for my family. Close to the city center and bus stations. Basic rooms but that is all we needed. Would definitely recommend staying here.

While it's a pretty decent room, the fold out showers had become a nightmare at this point in my trip. Location wise, it couldn't be better. It's a short (10 min) walk to the train station and to the wharf. It's located on a huge main street and convenience was never far. Lovely staff, lively and fun bar next door.

Acceptable for the price. The room is clean but kind of old. Hot water in the shower wasn't stable.

You get what you pay for, and in Norway, you pay (comparatively) little, and you get exactly that - very little. Depressing and cold.

Awful experience. We stayed in the old building, our floor (5th) had to be accessed by stairs (the elevator goes until the fourth floor, but it looked so old that we just didn't use it). The room is not clean and had a weird feel. Woke up several times at night with people screaming because of the nightclub downstairs and the thin walls where I could hear everything happening in the other room. I had stayed in rooms with shared bathrooms before, but this is the first time where the bathroom was unusable, it was dirty and smelled really bad. The staff acts indifferent. The location is amazing, but i'm afraid it doesn't cover the rest.

room was okay, TV had only one channel . shower was tiny. it appears that the hotel had seen better days.. i paid for three nights and stayed for one due to noise and comfort.

Can be great, or a terrible experience. We came a year ago and loved our room over the square, five stars, gorgeous room and great location, for cheap. HOWEVER, we booked a room again this year with totally different results. Two stars is almost too generous. Arrived at check-in time with our bags, but were asked to wait nearly an hour in lobby while they were still cleaning. We were not offered a place to put our bags so basically sat on them for 45 minutes. Unreasonably rude staff member when we politely questioned/complained, we were treated like criminals for the rest of our stay. Finally got placed in a hostel-type building across the street: with a broken elevator, five flights of stairs to our room, massive stains on the walls, and a tiny 30 year old television. Found the locking mechanism on the door was unreliable, sometimes wouldn't lock for a while when we tried to leave. Hopefully P-Hotels changes these things, this visit left us baffled.
