Awful service. We went in and no one was there to guide the seat. We asked to bring the menu, and when my little girl took a little time to choose our drink, she said why did we call her before deciding the drink. It wasn't even busy time at all. We just left the restaurant feeling very insulted. Don't bring kids especially. The first expression of the beautiful Edam city, she ruined it!
Fantastic old and authentic hotel cafe with spectacular Dutch interior design elements spread throughout. If you're stopping in Edam, do not miss a coffee and a snack here!!
Stopped by for a drink. Service was OK but we were left with enjoy glasses for ages and couldn't get the bill.
Fantastic cozy ans warm place, with good quality foood
We had lovely dinner here, great atmosphere and friendly stuff. 👍
Literally some of the best food I've ever tasted. Better than high-end resteraunts in NYC. Their simple cheese and bread is outstanding. Edam is known for their cheese and it shows with how good their food was.
Their Dutch apple pie is also a must have during a visit here. The apples are cooked perfectly and the pie crust is made perfectly.
It was overall a perfect meal from start to finish.
Went for dinner with family here.
The starters were average. Some of us had the carpaccio (which was not home made) and the salmon tartar. The taste was ok.
For main course only the Tournedo was tasty, but you have to be really an amateur cook to spoil a good piece of meat. However the wild goose and the wild duck meat were really bad, rubbery, not tasty at all.
The choices for desert were poor and the one we choose were terrible. Salty chocolate mousse which was so salty that we had to drink a litter of water afterwards and the grilled apricot with ice cream had no taste at all.
When asked if we enjoyed the meals we said the truth but the answer was not really appreciated by the personnel. So why ask if you do not want to know what the customer thinks?
I do not recommend this place. There are plenty of other restaurants in Edam, so do not get trapped in this one. Even tough the rooms are charmingly decorated, you will not go away with a good feeling I am afraid.
Good food and service, small room But very nice view.
The food was amazing!
Charming little family - owned place right next to a canal in the city of Edam, famed for their cheese of the same name. We had a small room upstairs in a separate building. Cute and clean. Price reasonable.
The restaurant serves gourmet food on cloth tablecloths and service is good. Friendly staff and the owner greets all the guests. We had a deliciously prepared cod, a catch of the day.
We bought several varieties of Edam cheese from a family - owned store that produces its own cheese using their own cows, sheep and goats.
